Notes: From Karen Brooks Willey - "On May 24, 1877 James married Louisa Ellen Cook. Louisa's parents I have not proven to my satisfaction as of this date, but will be working on that. They were either Russell and Malinda Brooks Cook, or Green Meadow and Margaret Cooke Cook. Louisa's birth date is January 8, 1857 - based upon her tombstone. James and Louisa had two children: Daughter Carrie born on March 7, 1878 and daughter Aury J. born May 1880. At the 1880 census they were all listed, as well as Eunice who was living with them.

"James died sometime between 1880 and 1890. On January 19, 1891 Louisa married William Moses (Mose) Wesley. They had no children together. Louisa died on Sept. 3, 1909, and is buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Raleigh City, West Virginia. Mose later moved to Florida and died there.

"There was a family story told with very little concrete information that Carrie and her mother went to church and that James poisoned his family while they were out. I can find no death records or newspaper records to support this (due to fires and floods!). Possible scenarios are murder of Aury and Eunice, or murder suicide, etc. At any rate, James, Aury and Eunice all disappear from records."
