He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had brown eyes and dark-colored hair.

Information found on findagrave.com and photos of their headstones (photo 2) shows that Leona Beatrice Blanton lived from January 6, 1893 to February 8, 1966, and was buried in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and that General Schofield Blanton lived from October 20, 1904 to September 7, 1990, and was buried in the same cemetery. General S. Blanton has a 2nd gravemarker that shows that he was a private in 180 infantry 35 Div in World War I.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of his headstone shows that William Halsie Howell lived from March 28, 1907 to September 15, 1952, and is buried in Auxier Relocation Cemetery in Auxier, Floyd County, Kentucky. There is also a quote from "The Logan Banner" of Logan, West Virginia, that says: "Two Ethel Timbermen Die in Mine Slate Fall.... Two Timberman for Ethel Chilton Mines, Inc., at Ethel were killed almost instantly yesterday afternoon when they were struck by slate at the No. 2 mine at Ethel. The victims were the Rev. William Halsie Howell, 45, of Ottawa in Boone County, and Robert Edward Penn, 45, of Freeze Fork near Ethel. According to coal company officials the two were setting timbers when the slate began falling. Both men were dead when brought from the mine, the spokesman added. The deaths of Howell and Penn brought the county's mine fatalities since Saturday to a total of four. The other two were killed at Elk Creek Coal Co. at Emmett and Boone County Coal Corp. at Sharples. The Rev. Mr. Howell had been an ordained Baptist minister since 1933 and was pastor of the Freewill Baptist Church at Bias Branch when he was killed. He is survived by his widow; Nancy; three sons, John, serving with the Air Force at Langley Air Force Base, VA., William and howard, both at home; one daughter, Jean Louise Howell also at home; two brothers, Ballard of Ohio and Charles of Pikeville, KY; three sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Howell of Florida, Mrs. Herbert Duncan of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. P. He was born January 15, 1879, died November 27, 1959 in Veterans Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, and was buried in the family cemetery in Oil Springs. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife; 1 daughter; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters. He was survived by his wife, Tella Litteral; 2 sons, Morris Litteral (of Martins Ferry, Ohio) and Merrill Litteral (Portsmouth, Ohio); 1 daughter, Mrs. Edward J. Barry (Norfolk, Virginia); 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Eddie Long (Stockdale, Ohio) and Mrs. Wade Rice (Oil Springs); 1 brother, W. C. Litteral (Charleston, West Virginia); 4 grandchildren; 1 step-grandson; and 3 great-grandchildren. She married JAMES WAYMEN TACKETT, son of JAMES TACKETT and NANCY BLEVINS, about 1865. He was born in 1846 in Kentucky.

Notes: James Waymen Tackett was the brother of William J. Tackett, Odam Tackett, Eli Tackett, and George Tackett.

According to Kentucky birth records, Daniel Tackett was born in 1856 to James Tackett and Nancy Blevens.

According to her death certificate, Siller Tackett died January 13, 1929 in Flatfork from the flu. Cornelius Muck Thomas' full name was determined by looking at the various census reports - Muck in 1880 and 1900, Cornelius M. in 1910 and 1920 - and by finding his marriage record to Anna and the obituary of his son John Edward Thomas (1883-1935). Anna's last name is listed as Bunnard in the marriage record, but it was Bunyard in the 1850 and 1860 census reports. Her last name is listed as Fouch in her son Elliot's obituary.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Flora Armes lived from 1900 to 1972, and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Silver Lake, Kosciusko County, Indiana, and that Frank Armes lived from June 17, 1895 to April 17, 1971, and was buried in the same cemetery. A second gravemarker for Frank shows that he served as a private in the 51st Infantry during World War I.

She married RALPH PRESTON BLACK, son of SHERMAN CORTSEL BLACK and SARAH FRANCES FRANKLIN, about 1923. He was born October 29, 1898 in Kentucky, and died April 23, 1982 in Boyd County, Kentucky.

Notes: Sherman Black was the brother of William Molten Black.

"IVA LILLIAN BLACK FIELDS, age 96, of South Point, Ohio, passed on to her eternal home with Sweet Jesus, her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Iva was born in Durbin, Kentucky on March 20, 1912, the daughter of Sherman Cortsel and Sarah Frances Franklin Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Fields Jr.; a daughter, Ginger Davis; a grandson, Matthew Clinton Davis; and three brothers and seven sisters. Iva was a cornerstone founder of the Durbin Cyrus Chapel. She was the oldest living member of the South Point United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of the Children's Department and Lay Leader. She regularly attended the South Point Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member of the Golden Girls. Iva was active in both Girl Scouts and 4-H Clubs, and due to her involvement in 4-H, a bridge on Solida Road was named in her honor. She was involved in the PTA and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Iva was a former school teacher and also an employee of the Lawrence County Senior Center, where she retired at age 90. Iva was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She was a devoted and active follower of Jesus Christ and touched many lives in a positive way as a result of her strong faith. Iva is survived by one son, William C. Fields III; four daughters, Glo DeRaimo, Wanda Neudorfer-Pack, and husband, David, June Lester, and husband, Dan, and Dinah Geschke, and husband, Gary. She is also survived by grandchildren, Lisa Glockner, and husband, Paul, John Mark Davis, and wife, Lucy, Lezlie Stephens, Jemella DeRaimo, Karl Eric Neudorfer, and wife, Noelle, Keri Jo Sites, Stacy Jo Holley, Jennifer Bernsdorf, and husband, Chad, Abigail Tener, and husband Bob, and Katheryn McMahon, and husband, Alex, and granddaughter-in-law, Trena Davis. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Aaron Webb, Rachel Glockner, John Fields Davis, Lucy Henderson Davis, Martha, Sarah, William and Mary Stephens, Jessica Davis, Nickolaus Karl Neudorfer, Chase and Beckett Sites, Cody Miller, Brady Stewart, Darbe Holley, Matthew David, Andrew and Alaina Bernsdorf, and Joseph and Nicholas Tener. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Rev. Charles Layne officiating.       According to her obituary, Bertha Kinner Webb (age 79), daughter of the late Delbert and Velma Dixon Kinner, was born June 6, 1936 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, died October 1, 2015 in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, and was buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Webb; and 3 brothers, Doug Kinner, Dan Kinner, and Don Kinner. She was survived by 3 sons, Roy Keith (Robin) Webb (of River, Kentucky), Russell Dean (Pamela) Webb (Pace, Florida), and Kirby Ray (Florence) Webb (Prestonsburg, Kentucky); 1 daughter, Connie (Mark) Garrett (Tampa, Florida); 1 sister, Ada Stepp (Inez, Kentucky); 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

      According to his obituary, Dan Roland Kinner (age 55), son of the late Delbert and Velma Dixon Kinner, was a roadmaster with CSX Railroad, and a resident of West Salem, Ohio at the time of his death. He was born July 6, 1950 in Lawrence County, died October 31, 2005 in Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio, and was buried in Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Staffordsville. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Douglas Kinner. He was survived by 1 son, Joseph Randall Kinner (of St. Augustine, Florida); 2 daughters, Gina Monroe (Eldersburg, Maryland) and Melissa Kinner (Eldersburg); 1 brother, Don Kinner (Paintsville); 2 sisters, Ada Stepp (Inez, Kentucky) and Bertha Webb (West Van Lear); and 1 granddaughter.
