She was born March 28, 1885 in Barnetts Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky, died November 3, 1959 in Lucasville, Scioto County, Ohio, and is buried in Lucasville Cemetery in Lucasville, Scioto County, Ohio.

When Walter Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 7, 1918 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a pipefitter working for Solvay Coke Company in Portsmouth, Ohio, that his closest relative was "Wife Nora Conley" of Sciotoville, and that he was born April 20, 1884. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had black eyes and black hair.

When Walter Conley's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, he stated that that he was working for the W.P.A., that his closest relative was Nora Conley of Lucasville, Ohio, and that he was born April 20, 1884 in Salyersville, Kentucky. He was found to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, he weighed 165 pounds, and he had brown eyes, gray hair, and a light complexion.

According to Ohio death record transcripts, Walter Conley was born about 1884, and died November 3, 1959 at home in Scioto County at the age of 75. He was married at the time of his death.

Information found on findagrave.com shows that Walter Hamilton Conley was buried in Lucasville Cemetery in Lucasville, Scioto County, Ohio, and that Nora Delphia Caudill Conley was buried in the same cemetery. No headstone photos are provided.

According to Ohio death record transcripts, Nora D. Conley was born about 1886, and died March 17, 1965 at home in Scioto County at the age of 79. She was widowed at the time of her death.

On page 30 of the 1930 census for District 73-21 (Valley Township) in Scioto County, Ohio (dated April 21, 1930), Walter Conley is listed as the head of the household for house #146, he works in a steel manufacturing company, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at age 22, and he's 46 years old. Also listed are Nora (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 21, age 45), Robert (son, born in Ohio, age 4), and Orville (son, born in Ohio, age 17). They are living next to son Bradie.

On page 15 of the 1940 census for District 73-25 (Lucasville) in Scioto County, Ohio (dated April 10, 1940), Walter Conley is listed as the head of the household for house #154, he's a laborer for the W.P.A. road project, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same house that he was in 1935, he has a 6th grade education, and he's 55 years old. Also listed are Nora (wife, born in Kentucky, 4 years of high school, age 55), and Robert H. (son, born in Ohio, age 14). LIZZIE CONLEY, daughter of HAMILTON CONLEY and LOUISE PERLINA ADAMS, was born April 24, 1886 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died September 30, 1985 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. She married BENJAMIN MCCORMICK, son of ROBERT L. MCCORMICK and CLARINDA BELLE POWERS, about 1915. He was born July 6, 1892 in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died January 17, 1965 in Johnson County, Kentucky.

Benjamin McCormick was the brother of Grace McCormick.

Clarinda Belle Powers was the sister of Harrison Powers and William Powers.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Robert McCormick married Belle Power on December 23, 1889 in Magoffin County "at the bride's house." The witnesses were Halleck Wheller [Halleck Wheeler] and John Prater, and the minister was Miles W. Ward.

According to his obituary, R. L. "Bob" McCormick (age 86), son of the late George and Sarah Vermihion McCormick, was born November 8, 1867 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, died December 19, 1953 at home in Paintsville, Kentucky, and was buried in Blue Grass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife on November 14, 1946. He was survived by 2 sons, Tom McCormick (of Burning Fork) and Ben McCormick (Salyersville); 2 daughters, Mrs. Baxter Caudill (Paintsville) and Mrs. James Adams (Salyersville); 1 sister, Mrs. Kate Pelphrey (Lexington); 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

CONLEY and SARAH JANE TAYLOR, was born July 17, 1885 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died July 9, 1920 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and is buried in the Ham Conley Cemetery in Falcon, Magoffin County, Kentucky. She married LUTHER JOHNSON CONLEY, son of HAMILTON CONLEY and LOUISE PERLINA ADAMS, October 6, 1907 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was born April 8, 1888 in Falcon, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died March 18, 1954 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky. Luther Johnson Conley married (2) AUDREY GIBSON, daughter of BURNHAM GIBSON and LOUISA BAILEY, May 13, 1922. She was born March 16, 1904 in Gifford, Magoffin County, Kentucky, died March 18, 1947 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and was buried March 20, 1947 in Conley Cemetery in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky. He married (3) RUTH ANN RIGSBY, daughter of HARRY RIGSBY and MOUSIE ROWE, December 13, 1947. She was born March 20, 1932 in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky, died October 1, 2001 in Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky. Ruth Ann Rigsby married (2) ROBERT LEWIS PATTON.

Notes: Information on this family can be found on pages 230, 336, 533 & 543 of "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society. In that book it says that there were two babies born to Mary and Luther, and that they died young. One was born and died on February 14, 1913, and the other was born on April 4, 1914 and died on April 8, 1914.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Mary Conley married Luther Conley on October 6, 1907 in Magoffin County near the home of Milt Litteral. The witnesses were Taylor Conley and Farmer Rice, and the minister was J. D. Conley.

When Luther Johnson Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Falcon, Kentucky, that he had a wife and 2 children, that he had been a private in the infantry of the Kentucky State Guard for 3 years, and that he was born April 8, 1889 in Falcon, Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was found to be short, of medium build, and he had black eyes and black hair.

According to Kentucky birth record transcripts, Ruth A. Rigsby was born March 20, 1932 in Magoffin County to Mousie Rowe.

According to her death certificate, Mary Conley died July 9, 1920 in State Road Fork, Magoffin County, Kentucky, from apoplexy. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Johnson County, her age as 35, her marital status as married, and her parents as W. G. Conley (b. Johnson County) and Sarah Taylor (b. Kentucky). According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky", she died from injuries sustained in a horse riding accident.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Luther J. Conley died March 18, 1954 in Johnson County at the age of 65.

According to her death certificate, Audrey Gibson Conley died March 18, 1947 in Paintsville Hospital from 3rd degree burns on 3/4 of her body. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Gifford, Magoffin County, her birth date as March 16, 1904, her marital status as married, her husband as Luther Conley, her parents as Burnham Gibson (b. Magoffin County) and Lou Bailey (b. Magoffin County), the informant as Luther Conley of Salyersville, Kentucky, and the burial place as the "Conley Place." Although it doesn't say it on her death certificate, the burns were caused by a gas explosion in the apartment where she and Luther lived. The accident happened on February 27, 1947 and she was in the hospital in Paintsville until she died.

According to her obituary, Audrey Gibson Conley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burnham Gibson of Magoffin County, died March 18, 1947 in a local hospital from burns and shock that she received from a gas explosion on February 27, and was buried in the family cemetery. She was survived by her parents; her husband, Luther Conley, who was the owner of the Conley Bus Lines and the sheriff of Magoffin County; 2 sons, Winfred Conley (living at home) and Woodford Conley (living at home); 2 step-children, Morris Conley (Salyersville) and Mrs. Dudley Green (Jackson, Ohio); and several brothers and sisters.

According to her obituary, Ruth Ann Rigsby Patton (age 69), daughter of Harry Rigsby and the late Mousie Rowe Rigsby, was born March 20, 1932 in Magoffin County, died October 1, 2001 in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, and was buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville. She was survived by her husband, Robert Lewis Patton (of Paintsville); 1 son, Luther Conley (Paintsville); 1 daughter, Judith Ann Conley (Harold, Kentucky); 2 step-sons, Morris Conley (Staffordsville) and Woodford Conley (Lexington); 2 sisters, Josetta Seagraves (Red Bush, Kentucky) and Eva Mae Johnston (Nashville, Tennessee); 3 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was found to be short and stout, and he had brown eyes and black hair.

According to his obituary, Tommie Conley (age 81), son of the late Ham and Lou Adams Conley, died December 26, 1971. She was born October 27, 1894 in Mashfork, Magoffin County, Kentucky, died November 17, 1980 in Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Conley Cemetery in Falcon, Magoffin County, Kentucky.

Mary Perkins was the sister of Ada Perkins, who married John Taylor Bailey, son of Dicy Ann Pace and Jackson Taylor Bailey, and the half-sister of Laura Perkins.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Coon Perkins married Frances Lemaster on July 23, 1891 in Magoffin County at the home of Isaac Lemaster. The witnesses were Allen Jackson and Lewis Caudill, and the minister was L. F. Caudill. Frances Lemaster Perkins' maiden name was also confirmed by finding the obituary of her son William (1892-1973).

He was born September 28, 1887 in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky, died May 16, 1953 in West Liberty, Morgan County, Kentucky, and is buried in Blue Grass Cemetery in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky. Claude Patrick married (1) (unknown). He married (2) BLANCHE STAPLETON, about 1903. She was born about 1889 in Kentucky, and died before 1930.

According to her obituary (Taken from the obituary page of the The Johnson County Historical & Genealogical Society's website)" [Thursday July 24, 1930]:

     "Miss Hazel Patrick, age 21, died last Monday morning at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Sam Stapleton, Sr., in Paintsville, from hemorrhage of the lungs, following an illness of three years duration of tuberculosis. Miss Patrick was a very popular young lady with a lovable disposition and made friends of all with whom she came in contact and her death brings sadness to the hearts of many relatives and true friends throughout Johnson and Magoffin counties. For the past two years she had been an inmate of Hazelwood Sanatorium. Louisville where she had been sent by her family with the hope of restoring her health, but returned to Paintsville June 15, where she remained and was tenderly cared for by her family until the end. Miss Patrick was a student of the Paintsville High School where she completed the Eighth Grade and had taken three years of high school when the condition of her health forced her to forsake her studies and enter the sanatorium. Funeral services were held at the Freewill Baptist Church, Tuesday at 2:30 o’clock in charge of Rev. John Prater of Salyersville, assisted by Rev. Thos. B. Ashley and Rev. F. S. VanHoose of Paintsville, with burial in the Wells-Buckingham cemetery in Bridgeford addition. Miss Patrick was a daughter of Claude Patrick of Salyersville, her mother having preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by one brother, Hari Patrick of Paintsville. She was a granddaughter of the late Sam Stapleton of Paintsville."

According to California death record transcripts, Robert E. Prater was born January 8, 1898 in Kentucky, and died January 19, 1960 in Tuolomne County, California. His mother's maiden name is listed as Conley.

LELA V. PENIX, daughter of WILLIAM HENRY PENIX and ELLA D. BARNETT, was born September 16, 1893 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died July 20, 1980 in Morgan County, Kentucky. She married WILLIAM B. COLLINS, son of WILLIAM HENRY "BUD" COLLINS and LUCINDA CONLEY, about 1915. He was born April 17, 1895 in Falcon, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died March 9, 1973 in Magoffin County, Kentucky.

When Willie Collins' World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Falcon, Magoffin County, that he was married and had a child, April 17, 1895 in Falcon. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had black eyes and dark-colored hair.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Lela Collins was born September 16, 1893, and died in July of 1980. Her last place of residence was in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Lela V. Collins died July 20, 1980 in Morgan County at the age of 86. She was living in Magoffin County at the time of her death.

On page 1 of the 1940 census for District 77-5 in Magoffin County, Kentucky (dated April 2, 1940), Will Collins is listed as the head of the household for house #3 [mistakenly numbered "2"], he's a teamster doing hauling, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same house that he was in 1935, he has an 8th grade education, and he's 44 years old. Also listed are Lela (wife, born in Kentucky, 4th grade education, age 46), Gertrude (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 19), Ray (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 17), Virginia (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 15), Sendia Ella (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 13), Harold Dene Collins (grandson, born in Kentucky, age 8 months), and Pauline Penix (niece, born in Kentucky, age 3). Harold Collins was the son of daughter Gertrude.
