He married ELLEAN BLANTON, daughter of WILLIAM EMERSON BLANTON and ELIZABETH PACE, August 1, 1901 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. She was born January 25, 1871 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, died May 25, 1956 in Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Bayes Cemetery in Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: Information on this family can be found on page 40 of "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society. In that book it says that William Pierce Conley was born July 2, 1881 in Magoffin County, and died September 5, 1954 in Swamp Branch. He married Ellene Blanton, daughter of William Emerson and Elizabeth Pace Blanton. She was born January 25, 1871 and died May 25, 1956 in Swamp Branch. All 5 of their children were born in Magoffin County. William and Ellean are buried in the Bayes and Caudill Cemetery in Swamp Branch.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Pierce Conley married Ellen Blanton on August 1, 1901 in Magoffin County at the home of William Blanton. the witnesses were Millard Blanton and Tella Blanton [Telia Litteral Blanton], and the minister was Charles Wheeler.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website and a photo of their headstone shows that William P. Conley lived from 1881 to 1954, and was buried in Bayes Cemetery in Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky, and that Ellean Conley lived from 1871 to 1956, and was buried in the same cemetery.

     "Pierce Conley, 73, well-known resident of Magoffin County, died in a local hospital Sunday, Sep. 05, 1954, following an illness of a few days.
     "Born July 2, 1881, he was the son of the later William and Mahala Caudill Conley. He was a resident of Swamp Branch at the time of his death.
     "Surviving are his wife, Ellene Blanton Conley, two sons, Lindsey Conley, Stockbridge, Mich., Lonza Conley, Swamp Branch; two daughters, Mrs. Curt May, Riceville, and Mrs. Edgar Caudill, Swamp Branch.
     "Other survivors include five brothers, Frank Conley, Cattlettsburg; Elzie Conley, Jim Conley, Dona Conley and Burna Conley, all of Falcon; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Conley, Falcon; Mrs. Mary Borders, Flatwoods; Mrs. Ida Jackson, Idaho, Ohio.
     "Funeral Services were held Tuesday at the Riceville Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Castle and Wee Caudill officiating.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Pierce Conley died September 5, 1954 in Johnson County at the age of 73. He was living in Johnson County at the time of his death.

     "Born January 25, 1871, in Magoffin County, who was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Pace Blanton.
     "She was preceded in death in 1954 by her husband, Pierce Conley.
     "Surviving are two sons, Lindsey Conley, Stockbridge, Michigan, and Lonza Conley, Swamp Branch; two daughters, Mrs. Curt May and Mrs. Edgar Caudill, both of Swamp Branch, and one sister, Mrs. Adaline Gullett, Wheelersburg, KY.
     "Services were conducted by the Revs. Scott Castle and Wee Caudill.

He married FLORA BAILEY, daughter of DICY ANN PACE and JACKSON TAYLOR BAILEY, about 1901. She was born in November of 1884 in Kentucky, and died January 28, 1957 in Boyd County, Kentucky.

Notes: When Harman Litteral's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Greenup County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer in Palmyra, Greenup County, that his closest relative was Flarra Litteral of Palmyra, and that he was 38 years old. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had brown eyes and gray hair.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Flora B. Litteral died January 28, 1957 in Boyd County at the age of 72.

SHAW, about 1924. He was March 11, 1888 in Lincoln, Logan County, Illinois, died July 21, 1961, and is buried in Union Cemetery in Lincoln, Logan County, Illinois.

Notes: According to Illinois death record transcripts, David Finley Klarr was born about 1859, and died July 6, 1945 in Lincoln, at the age of 86. His parents are listed as Samuel Klarr and Elizabeth Ritchhart, and his wife as Amanda Shaw.

According to Illinois death record transcripts, Amanda Klarr was born February 13, 1872 in Lincoln, Logan County, Illinois, died July 1, 1940 in Lincoln, at the age of 68, and was buried in Union Cemetery in Lincoln. Her mother is listed as Nancy Shaw (b. Illinois), and her husband as David Klarr.

Klarr's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Broadwell, Logan County, Illinois, he stated that he was a laborer working for Chicago and Alton Railroad in Broadwell, that he was single, and that he was born March 11, 1888 in Lincoln, Illinois. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and light brown hair.

When Fred Arthur Klarr's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Lincoln, Logan County, Illinois, he stated that he was working in Lincoln, that the person who would always know his address was Mrs. Nona Klarr of Lincoln, and that he was born March 11, 1888 in West Lincoln, Illinois. He was found to be 6 feet 2 inches tall, he weighed 240 pounds, and he had blue eyes, brown hair, a ruddy complexion, and a small wart on his left cheek.

On March 12, 1962, Nona Klarr filled out an application for a veteran headstone for Fred A. Klarr. On that application it says that Fred served from July 31, 1917 to June 5, 1919, and was honorably discharged. He served as a mechanic on an ammunition train in World War I in Co. "G" - 108th. It also shows that he was born March 11, 1888, died July 21, 1961, and was buried in Union Cemetery in Lincoln, Illinois.

Conley Cemetery in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, that Mae Conley lived from July 12, 1912 to February 10, 2000, was buried in the same cemetery, and that Ollie Conley lived from 1939 to 2004, and was buried in the same cemetery.

"Raymond Nathan “Pappy” Crawford, 97, of Berry, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. Born on February 16, 1912 in Harrison County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William “Willie” and Iva Belle Mowsey Crawford. He was a well-known Harrison County farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His distinguished service includes two Purple Hearts, 3 Bronze Stars earned in Asiatic-Pacific duty, 1 Bronze Star earned in conjunction with the Phillipine Liberation; and the Victory Medal. He was a member of the Robinson Christian Church, Harrison County, the Berry Lions Club, and the VFW of Frankfort, Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Crawford on July 27, 1999; his son, William Lynn Crawford on February 8, 2009, and his great granddaughter, Stacy Todd Northcutt on June 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Betty A. King, his daughter: Iva Belle Simpson of Lexington, Kentucky; his stepdaughter, Capt. Pattie King Jackson, USAF, of Iowa Park, Texas; his step-son, Allen Ray King of Berry, Kentucky; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Notes: Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website shows that Tava Spradlin Spradlin lived from June 15, 1906 to November 29, 1936, and was buried in Sherman Spradlin Cemetery in Denver, Johnson County, Kentucky, that Thomas Spradlin lived from July 17, 1900 to December 4, 1961, and was buried in the same cemetery, and that Ruth Nell Spradlin lived from February 6, 1929 to February 3, 1940, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to her obituary, Mrs. Tava Spradlin (age 30), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sant Spradlin, died "at her home at Denver last Saturday after a few days illness following the birth of a newly born baby," and was buried in the family cemetery near her home. She was surivived by her husband, Tom Spradlin; 4 small daughters; her parents; 3 brothers, Virgil, Norman, and Arnold (all of Denver); and 4 sisters, Mrs. Mason Ward, Mrs. Mose Spradlin, Mrs. Reuben Fairchild, and Mrs. Gordan Spradlin. According to his obituary, Thomas Spradlin, son of the late Samuel and Alice Cole Spradlin, was born July 17, 1900 in Johnson County, died December 4, 1961 in Jackson, Michigan, after a brief illness, and was buried in the family cemetery in Denver. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Tava Spradlin, in 1935. He was survived by his 2nd wife, Elsie Spradlin; 1 son, Thomas Richard Spradlin (of Alexander, Ohio); 4 daughters, Mrs. Mary Alice Burchett (Jackson, Michigan), Mrs. Ella Spradlin (Dayton, Ohio), Mrs. Edna Butcher (West Alexander, Ohio), and Mrs. Roselle Blair (Barnetts Creek); 2 brothers, Charlie Spradlin (Jackson, Michigan) and Vernal Spradlin (Jackson, Michigan); and 3 sisters, Mrs. Martha Ratliff (Barnetts Creek), Mrs. Cassie May (Jackson, Michigan), and Mrs. Stella Adams (Jackson, Michigan).

On page 6 of the 1930 census for District 58-5 (Van Lear) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated April 3, 1930), Tom Spradlin is listed as the head of the household for house #42, he's a coal miner, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at age 21, and he's 27 years old. Also listed are Tavia (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 18, age 24), Ruth (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 1), and Bessie Spradlin (sister, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 14).

On page 21 of the 1940 census for District 58-8 in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated April 17, 1940), Tom Spradlin is listed as the head of the household for house #176, he's a miner working for the North East Coal Company, born in Kentucky, he was living in rural Johnson County in 1935, he has a 3rd grade education, and he's 37 years old. Also listed are Elsa (wife, born in Kentucky, she's living in the same place that she was in 1935, no formal education, age 44), Mary Alice (daughter, born in Kentucky, she was living in rural Johnson County in 1935, age 9), Edna Fay (daughter, born in Kentucky, she was living in rural Johnson County in 1935, age 7), Rosa Lee (daughter, born in Kentucky, she was living in rural Johnson County in 1935, age 2), Thomas R. (son, born in Kentucky, he was living in rural Johnson County in 1935, age 1 month), Ella Gladys (daughter, born in Kentucky, she was living in rural Johnson County in 1935, age 5), Carma Reynolds (step-daughter, born in Kentucky, she's living in the same place that she was in 1935, age 14), Paul Reynolds (step-son, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same place that he was in 1935, age 13), Howard Reynolds (step-son, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same place that he was in 1935, age 11), Mary Fern Reynolds (step-daughter, born in Kentucky, she's living in the same place that she was in 1935, age 7), and Bobbie Jane Reynolds (step-daughter, born in Kentucky, she's living in the same place that she was in 1935, age 5).

      According to her obituary, Ruthnell Spradlin (age 11), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Spradlin of Left Barnetts Creek, "died Saturday at the Golden Rule Hospital from burns she received three weeks before, when her clothes caught fir from an open grate." She was buried in the family cemetery near the graves of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sant Spradlin.
