HENRIETTA CONLEY, daughter of HENRY JEFFERSON CONLEY and MAHALA JANE DAVIS, was born July 24, 1861 in Kentucky, died December 18, 1935 in Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky, and is buried in Clearfield, Rowan County, Kentucky. She married JOHN NORRIS, son of ISAIAH NORRIS and CATHERINE HENDERSON, December 22, 1879 in Greenup County, Kentucky. He was born September 4, 1859 in Virginia, died January 20, 1934 in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.

Information on this family can also be found on page 177 of the book "Johnson County, Kentucky: A History of the County, and Genealogy of Its People Up to the Year 1927" by Mitchell Hall. In that book it says that "Henrietta (Rit) Conley" married Jack Morris [sic], and that their children were William, Earnest, Dorothy, and Carrie (married Tom McClelland). It also says:

     "Jack Morris works in a steel plant at Ashland, Kentucky. Their street address is 30th and Front. Mr. and Mrs. Tom McClelland live in Oak View, post office Unity, Kentucky."

In the family Bible, which is in the possession of descendant Joyce Loegel, Henry Retty's name is spelled this way rather than Henrietta. The birth date posted for her here was taken from that Bible.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Henrietta Conley married John Norris on December 22, 1879 in Greenup County.

According to her death certificate, Henrietta Conley Norris died December 18, 1935 in Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky, from chronic nephritis, myocarditis, and arterioschlerosis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her age as 74 years 6 months 7 days, her marital status as widowed, her husband as Jack Norris, her parents as Davis Conley (b. Kentucky) and Mahala Conley (b. Kentucky), the informant as Earnest Norris of Morehead, Kentucky, and the burial place as Clearfield, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Henrietta Morris died December 18, 1935 in Rowan County at the age of 74.

According to his death certificate, John Norris died January 20, 1934 in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, from lobar pneumonia with the flu being a contributory cause. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Virginia, his birth date as September 4, 1859, his marital status as married, his wife as Henrietta Norris, his occupation as retired salesman, his parents as Isiah Norris (b. Virginia) and Catherine Henderson (birthplace blank), the informant as Ernest Norris, and the burial place as Rose Hill Cemetery.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, John Norris died January 20, 1934 in Boyd County at the age of 75.

On page 26 of the 1880 census for District 41 (Old Town) in Greenup County, Kentucky (dated June 1880), John Norris is listed as the head of the household for house #208, he's a laborer, born in Virginia, father born in Tennessee, mother born in Virginia, and he's 21 years old. Also listed are Henrietta (wife, born in Kentucky, father's birthplace not listed, mother born in Kentucky, age 18), and Lorenzo D. Brooks (boarder, laborer, born in Kentucky, father born in Virginia, mother born in Kentucky, age 15). They are living next to John's parents.

CARRIE C. NORRIS, daughter of HENRIETTA CONLEY and JOHN NORRIS, was born in September of 1881 in Illinois. She married THOMAS JAMES MCCULLOUGH JR., son of THOMAS JAMES MCCULLOUGH and BELLE HAMMELL, about 1902. He was born July 12, 1882 in Ohio.

Notes: In 1900, Thomas' father is living with his 2nd wife, Hannah Smith. In the census for that year, Thomas and Hannah report that they have been married for 16 years, but on pages 11 & 12 of the 1910 census for District 24 (Ashland) in Boyd County, Kentucky, they report that they've been married for 12 years. Belle Hammell, Thomas Sr.'s 1st wife, reportedly died in 1896.

According to his death certificate, George McCullough died December 31, 1942 in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, from a coronary occlusion. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Dresden, Ohio, his birth date as October 30, 1887, his marital status as married, his wife as Mary Ellen McCullough, his occupation as Sheet Mill Foreman for the American Rolling Mill Company, his parents as T. J. McCullough (b. Ohio) and Belle Hammell (b. Ohio), the informant as Mrs. Geo. McCullough, and the burial place as Calvary Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.

When Thomas James McCullough's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a sheet mill roller for the A.J.M. Co. Sheet Mill in Ashland (the same place that his brother-in-law, William Norris, was working), that his closest relative was Carrie C. McCullough of Ashland, and that he was born July 12, 1882. He was found to be short and stout, and he had "B" colored eyes and unreadable color hair.

On page 2 of the 1900 census for District 51 (Jefferson Township) in Muskingham County, Ohio (dated June 1, 1900), Thomas J. McCulloug is listed as the head of the household for house #22, he's a sheet roller, born in February of 1863 in Ohio, parents born in Ireland, married for 16 years, and he's 37 years old. Also listed are Hanna (wife, born in February of 1865 in Virginia, parents born in Germany, married for 16 years, she's given birth to 2 children and both are still living, age 35), Thomas J. Jun. His father's name is listed as David Strait, his wife's name as Ester, and he was an auto mechanic and living in Ecorse, Michigan, at the time of his death.

HENRY CLAY STRAIT, son of ELIZABETH CONLEY and DAVID STRAIT, was born December 12, 1890 in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky, died July 21, 1962 in Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, and is buried in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky. He married EMMA L. DAGGETT, daughter of EUGENE B. DAGGETT and IDA L. ADAMS, August 7, 1914 in Paris, Edgar County, Illinois. She was born August 15, 1897 in New York City, New York, died August 31, 1978 in Columbia City, Whitley County, Indiana, and is buried in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.

In that book it says that Henry Straight was born December 12, 1891, married Emma Doggett [sic], daughter of Eugene Doggett on August 7, 1914, and that their children were "?," Helen Elizabeth Straight (b. June 16, 1917, and Dorothy Louise Straight (b. February 28, 1919. It also says:

     "Henry Straight works in the office at the Solvay Plant near Ashland, and lives at 111 15th Street, Catlettsburg, Kentucky."

According to her death certificate, Ida Adams Daggett died June 27, 1950 in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky, from a pulmonary embolism. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, her birth date as January 9, 1870, her marital status as widowed, her occupation as saleslady in a department store, her father as Frank Adams, her mother's maiden name as "Don't Know," and the burial place as Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Kentucky.

When Henry C. Strait's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Huntington, West Virginia, he stated that he was a station clerk for Indian Refining Company in Huntington, that he was married, and that he was born December 12, 1890 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and brown hair.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstones shows that Henry C. Strait lived from 1890 to 1962, and was buried in Section 7 of Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and that Emma D. Strait lived from 1897 to 1978, and was buried in the same section of the same cemetery.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Henry Strait was born December 12, 1890, and died in July of 1962. He received his Social Security card in Kentucky, prior to 1951 and his last place of residence was in Florida.

He married (2) MARY ELIZABETH GAMBILL, daughter of WILLIAM HENRY GAMBILL and ALAFAIR WARD, February 25, 1897 in Johnson County, Kentucky. Mary Elizabeth Gambill was the sister of John C. Gambill and James Martin Gambill.

Jennie's parents were buried in the same cemetery that she was.

He was born April 8, 1888 in Boons Camp, Johnson County, Kentucky, died October 1, 1936 in Thelma, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Hall-Meek Cemetery in Concord, Johnson County, Kentucky.

He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and black hair.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website shows that Mary Alice Davis Meek lived from February 15, 1882 to September 2, 1962, and was buried in Hall-Meek Cemetery in Concord, Johnson County, Kentucky, and that Asa Meek lived from 1889 to 1936, and was buried in the same cemetey, although no headstone photos are provided. Sons Virgil and Leonard are also buried in this cemetery

According to her obituary, Maria Davis Meek (age 80), daughter of the late B. L. and Mary Elizabeth Conley Davis, was a lifelong resident of Johnson County. She was born February 15, 1882, died September 2, 1962 from a heart condition and an illness of 2 years, and was buried in Wheeler Cemetery in Concord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Acie Meek, in 1936. She was survived by 3 sons, Virgil Meek (of Concord), Clarence Meek (Thealka), and Authie Meek (Concord); 2 daughters, Mrs. Russell Reneer (Port Clinton, Ohio) and Mrs. Minnie Lou Preston (New Lebanon, Ohio); 1 brother, Lon Davis (Van Lear); 1 sister, Mrs. John Welch; eleven grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Ironton, Ohio) and Eilleen Keeton (b. Kentucky), the informant as Mrs. C. O. Miller of Ashland, and the burial place as Dixon Cemetery. She married (2) JOHN STEELE PENDLAND, son of ALEXANDER PENDLAND and PRISCILLA JANE RAYBURN, about 1919. He was born about 1874 in Kentucky. She married (3) JAMES C. RAYBOURN. He was born August 7, 1866 in Kentucky, and died September 14, 1946 in Soldier, Carter County, Kentucky. She married (4) WILEY BURTON.

According to her death certificate, Rhumah Eden Mabry died February 2, 1921 in Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, from a cerebral hemorrhage, chronic nephritis, and hypertensive myocarditis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Tennessee, her birth date as January 8, 1864, her marital status as widowed, her parents as Enic Eden and Ester Brickie, and the burial place as Mabry Cemetery in Lawton, Kentucky.

On Enoch Eden's death certificate (1838-1923), his birthplace is listed as Hancock County, Tennessee, and father is listed as Isom Eden (birthplace unknown), and his mother's maiden name as Esther Brickey (b. DAVID WARREN REEDER, son of NANCY EVELYN "AMY" CONLEY and GEORGE W. REEDER, was born November 29, 1867 in Carter County, Kentucky, died June 22, 1933 in Clinton, Knox County, Ohio, and is buried in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio. He married MARY ANN MASTERS, daughter of GEORGE W. MASTERS and MIRIAM HAM, about 1891. She was born in January of 1875 in Kentucky, died October 2, 1969 in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, and is buried in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio.

Notes: According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 528), David W. Reeder was born November 29, 1867 in Carter County, Kentucky, died June 22, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and married Molly Masters.

David Reeder's sister, Mary, married Mary Masters' brother, Harvey.

According to Kentucky birth records, Isaac Masters was born August 9, 1878 in Carter County to George M. Masters (b. Ohio) and Mirram Ham (b. Carter County).

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that David W. Reeder lived from 1867 to 1933, and was buried in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, that Mary A. Reeder lived from 1875 to 1969, was buried in the same cemetery, and that Lizzie M. Reeder lived from April 23, 1895 to January 17, 1903, and was buried in Brookside Cemetery in Lapel, Madison County, Indiana.

According to his death certificate, David Warren Reeder died June 22, 1933 in Clinton, Knox County, Ohio, from mitral stenosis. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Carson County, Kentucky, his birth date as November 29, 1875, his age as 57 years 6 months 23 days, his marital status as married, his wife as Mary Ann Reeder, his occupation as electrical engineer, his parents as George Reeder (b. unknown) and Amy Conley (b. unknown), the informant as Mrs. Mary Ann Reeder of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and the burial place as Mound View Cemetery.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Mary Reeder was born January 1, 1875, and died in October of 1969. She received her Social Security card prior to 1951 in Ohio, and her last place of residence was in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio.

According to Ohio death record transcripts, Mary Reeder was born about 1875, and died October 2, 1969 in a long-term care facility in Knox County at the age of 94. She was widowed at the time of her death.

Reeder is listed as the head of the household for house #145, he's a laborer in a glass factory, born in November of 1867 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 9 years, and he's 32 years old. Also listed are Mary (wife, born in January of 1875 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, she's given birth to 2 children and both are still living, age 25), Milton (son, born in March of 1892 in Kentucky, age 8), and Lizzie (daughter, born in April of 1895 in Kentucky, age 5).

On pages 2 & 3 of the 1910 census for District 59 (Mt. Vernon - Clinton Township) in Knox County, Ohio (dated April 15, 1910), David W. Reeder is listed as the head of the household for house #31, he's a laborer in a glass factory, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, 1st marriage, married for 18 years, and he's 42 years old. Also listed are Mary A. (wife, born in Kentucky, father born in Ohio, mother born in Kentucky, 1st marriage, she's given birth to 3 children and 2 are still living, age 34), Milton R. Kathary is listed as the head of the household for house #396, he's a foreman in a milk bottle factory, born in Ohio, he's living in the same place that he was in 1935, he has 4 years of high school, and he's 32 years old. Also listed are Lutie E. (wife, born in Ohio, 4 years of high school, age 32), Marjory A. (daughter, born in Ohio, age 9), James R. (son, born in Ohio, age 5), Mary L. (daughter, born in Ohio, age 2 months), and Mary A. Reeder (mother-in-law, widowed, born in Kentucky, she's living in the same place that she was in 1935, 8th grade education, age 65).
