EPHRAIM BENNETT II, son of EPHRAIM BENNETT and MARY JANE STAFFORD, was born May 1, 1762 in Litchfield, Connecticut, and died October 26, 1843 in Montour Falls, Schuyler County, New York. He married HANNAH BENTLEY, daughter of GREEN M. BENTLEY, February 7, 1781, in Goshen, New York. She was born about 1765, and died about 1840.

According to the book "The Bennett, Bently and Beers Families" by S. B. Bennett (1899):

"Ephraim (5) born May 1st, 1762, married Hannah Bentley, at Goshen, February 7th, 1781. He was not nineteen years of age, she just more than sixteen. Nothing is known of their early education only that the registry in the old Bible by him is in fair old-fashioned penmanship. Hannah was daughter of Green M. Bently, a veteran soldier of two wars. She died at Tioga, Pa., while on a visit to her brother Benjamin, in company with her husband who survived her three years. She was buried there. Later her remains were removed to Montour Falls, N. Y., and laid beside her husband in the family plot. Ephraim bereft, made his home with his son, Col. Green Bently Bennett, where he died suddenly of appoplexy, October 26, 1843. He is vividly recalled to memory by the writer at three years old.

"His children were:

"Samuel, born Nov. 27, 1781; married Sally Van Gorder.
Thomas Strait, born Aug. 2, 1783.
Susannah, born Sept. 11, 1785; married David Coryell.
Peggy, born Dec. 15, 1787; married (1) Brant Catlin. (2) Charles Curtis.
Elizabeth, born Nov. 4, 1789; married Thomas Mills.
Polly, born Dec. 15, 1791; died 1794.
Abner Knox, born Jan. 11, 1793; married Sarah Lattin.
Sally, born Nov. 27, 1795; married William McClure.
Green Bently (6), born Nov. 30, 1797; married (1) Cynthia McClure. Married (2) Anna Beers Tyler.
Milly, born Feb. 28, 1801; married James Parks.
Harry, born Sept. 7, 1802; married Mary McClure.
Brant, born Aug. 28, 1805; died April 20, 1807.
Charles M., born May 11, 1807; married Louisa Canfield."
