    James Monroe Conley reportedly died April 29, 1930.

    Mary Jane Gray's maiden name was confirmed by finding the death certificate of one of her sons. Daniel Boone Williams died January 28, 1943 in Morgan County from senility. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Morgan County, his birth date as August 23, 1858, his marital status as widowed, his occupation as farmer, his parents as Richard Williams (b. Morgan County) and Mary Jane Gray (b. Virginia), and the informant as Mrs. Tony Osborn [hard to read] of Ironton, Kentucky.

    According to her death certificate, Sarah Williams Conley died January 20, 1944 in Malone from senility and the flu.     MINNIE CONLEY, daughter of JAMES MONROE CONLEY and SARAH J. WILLIAMS, was born in October of 1888 in Kentucky. She married KELSE POWERS NICKELL, son of THOMAS A. NICKELL and LOUISA FRANCES MCGUIRE, about 1907. He was born about 1883 in Kentucky, died December 2, 1935 in Lacy Creek, Morgan County, Kentucky, and is buried in Pelfrey Cemetery in Florress, Morgan County, Kentucky.

    Notes: Kelse Nickell was the brother of Elbert Thomas Nickell and Smith Nickell.

    Kelse's birth date is reported to be January of 1883 in the 1900 census, August 23, 1885 on his World War I draft registration card, and October 8, 1866 on his death certificate, which was filled out by his father.

    When Kelse Powers Nickell's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in West Liberty, Morgan County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer in Florress, Morgan County, that his closest relative was Mine Nickell of Florress, and that he was born August 23, 1885. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and black hair.

    According to his death certificate, Kelse Nickell died December 2, 1935 in Lacy Creek from uremia and interstitial nephritis. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his birth date as October 8, 1866 [mistake - Kelsy's father, Thomas, was born in 1854], his marital status as married, his wife as Minnie Nickell, his parents as Thomas Nickell (b. Kentucky) and Louisa McGuire (b. Kentucky), the informant as Thomas Nickell of Florress, Kentucky, and the burial place as Pelfrey Cemetery.

He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

    According to Social Security death record transcripts, Sam Conley was born April 8, 1900, and died in May of 1967. His last place of residence was in Price, Floyd County, Kentucky.

He married (2) JULIA BALDRIDGE, daughter of CHARLES BALDRIDGE and AMY MARGARET MORRIS, September 11, 1900 in Bonanza, Floyd County, Kentucky. She was born March 5, 1873 in Lackey, Floyd County, Kentucky, died June 7, 1941 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, and is buried in Vanover Cemetery in East Jenkins, Letcher County, Kentucky. Julia Baldridge married (1) VAN B. MARTIN. She married (3) WILLIAM DAVID HAMBY.

    Julia Baldridge first married Van B. Martin, a blacksmith, on August 12, 1891. Julia and Van had 3 children: William J., Nora, and Grace. The marriage ended in divorce. She married James Conley second. After James died she married William David Hamby on March 5, 1937. On June 9, 1941 Julia died, after six months of illness. She had a rejection of medical doctors and believed in Divine healing. Once, when she was having a gallbladder attack, someone went against her wishes and called the doctor. When she saw the doctor coming toward the house, she is reported to have said, "Here comes the devil with his little black bag."

    According to their marriage certificate, William David Hamby (widowed, b. Boone, North Carolina, resident of Portsmouth, Ohio, age 75), son of Harrison and Caroline Hamby, married Julia Conley (widowed, b. Floyd County, Kentucky, resident of Burdine, Kentucky, age 64), daughter of Charles and Amy Baldridge, on March 5, 1937 in Letcher County, Kentucky.

    According to her obituary, Julia Martin Conley Hamby (age 69), daughter of Charles and Margaret Morris Baldridge, was born in Lackey, Kentucky, died June 7, 1941 at home in Portsmouth, Ohio, following an illness of 6 months, and was buried in Vanover Cemetery in East Jenkins. She was married 3 times, 1st in 1890 to Van Martin in Lackey, 2nd to James Conley in Bonanza, Kentucky, and 3rd, after James Conley died in 1916, she married W. D. Hamby in 1937, in Burdine, Kentucky. She was survived by her husband; 3 sons, Jay Martin (of Dunham, Kentucky), Green Conley (Dunham), and Milford Conley (Jenkins, Kentucky); 3 daughters, Mrs. Frank Farley (Burdine), Mrs. Tan Whitaker (Van Lear, Kentucky), and Mrs. Homer Penn (Otay, Ohio); 3 sisters, Mrs. Anna Collins (Allen, Kentucky), Mrs. Polk Collins (Riceville, Kentucky), and Mrs. Alex Lawson (Garrett, Kentucky); 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was born March 4, 1865 in Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, died December 26, 1941 in Washington Township, Scioto County, Ohio, and is buried in Rushtown Cemetery in Rushtown, Scioto County, Ohio.

    Notes: A photo of their headstone shows that Mary E. Stone lived from 1870 to 1964, and that Kelso Stone lived from 1865 to 1941.

She married (1) (unknown first name) HACKWORTH. She married (2) RICHARD H. DOTSON, son of EMANUEL DOTSON and MARY HIBBITS, January 16, 1895 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He was born May 6, 1866 in Wise County, Virginia, died August 30, 1960 in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Dotson Cemetery in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky.

    Notes: From Jennifer Vaughan Darche: "My dad is Cynthiaís great grandson. He said she was married to a Hackworth before she married Richard H. Dotson. He doesnít remember his great grandfatherís name, only that he died early on. They had a son named Martin who was born 7 March 1890. Martinís last name was not changed to Dotson. His great grandma married Richard Dotson afterwards. Martin married a Malta Collins and they had my fatherís mother Alva Cynthia Hackworth. Alva married Walter Nolan Vaughan and they had my father Walter Douglas Vaughan."

    From the Knott County (Kentucky) Historical Society under marriages for January 16, 1895: "Miss Cynthia Hackworth, b. 1873 in Floyd County, and Mr. R. H. Dotson, b. 1867 in Wise County, Va., are scheduled to be wed in the home of Mr. James A. Conley of Floyd County. This is the second marriage for both parties. The groom resides at Bonanza in Floyd County."

    The initial information that was received had twelve children listed as being the offspring of Cynthia Conley and Richard Dotson, and this info came with a tremendous amount of documentation. In the 1900 census, Cynthia claims that she's had 4 children, with 3 still living. The parentage of the other children in that census that were born before Cynthia and Richard married weren't able to be proven.

    Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's Web site shows that Cynthia Conley Dotson lived from December 6, 1872 to March 16, 1955, and was buried in Dotson Creek on Asa Creek in Leander, Kentucky, and that Richard H. Dotson lived from May 6, 1866 to August 30, 1960, and was buried in the same cemetery.

    According to her obituary, Cynthia Conley Dotson (age 83), daughter of James and Susan Music Conley, was born December 6, 1872 in Floyd County, died March 16, 1955 at home in Leander, and was buried in the family cemetery. She was survived by her husband, Richard Dotson; 4 sons, Martin Hackworth (of Plymouth, Ohio and a son of a previous marriage), Edward Dotson (New Boston, Ohio), Glen Dotson (Nashville, Tennessee), and Estill Dotson (Leander); 3 daughters, Mrs. Verna Blair (Leander), Mrs. B. Williams (Collista), and Mrs. Dewey Hacksworth (Riceville); 2 brothers, Westley Conley (Bonanza), Bennie Conley (Stanford, Kentucky); and 2 sisters, Mrs. Mable Stone (West Portsmouth, Ohio) and Mrs. Fannie Cottle (Slocum Station, Ohio).     Notes: Kenis Franklin Hackworth was the brother of Henry W. Hackworth, Elizabeth Hackworth, Caroline "Carrie" Hackworth, and Violet Hackworth.

    Kenis Franklin Hackworth's mother's maiden name is listed as Agnes Poe his sister Violet's (1859-1932) birth record, and as Agnes Hanshew Violet's death certificate. It's found to be Agnes Poe on his brother Jackson's (1876) birth record, and his sister Elizabeth's death certificate (1866-1948). It's listed as Agnes Marshall on his sister Polly's (1863-1914) death certificate. According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 353), it was Agnes Marshall.

    According to descendant Tony Spencer, "Agnes MARSHALL married Edward "Ned" POE. Ned was a brother to Agness POE who married George Jeremiah "Jerry" HACKWORTH." Tony provided a marriage record for George Hackworth and Agnes Poe, who were married on September 9, 1857 in Floyd County, Kentucky. Tony also provided a death certificate for Jerry Hackworth, who died March 13, 1917 in Bonanza, Floyd County, Kentucky, from "Myalziea." Also on that certificate, his parents are listed as George Hackworth (b. Old Virginia) and Peggy Hanshaw (b. Floyd County), and the informant as Alexander Hackworth of Bonanza, Kentucky.

    According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Kenis F. Hackworth (age 20) married Mahala Catherine Conley on August 28, 1893.

    Information found on findagrave.com photos of their headstones shows that M. C. Hackworth lived from November 4, 1874 to October 21, 1906, and was buried in Hackworth Family Cemetery in Bonanza, Floyd County, Kentucky, and that K. F. Hackworth lived from March 13, 1873 [the 3 is hard to read], and was buried in the same cemetery.

He married HATTIE ELIZABETH MERRITT, daughter of EDWARD MERRITT and BIDDIE DOTSON, about 1899. She was born in May of 1882 in Kentucky, died July 30, 1966 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Conley Cemetery in Abbott Creek, Floyd County, Kentucky.

    Notes: Hattie Elizabeth Merritt was the sister of Cleo Merritt, who had a child with Emmanuel "Manuel" Fitzpatrick. She was also the sister of Sarah Ellen Merritt, Lewis Merritt, William "Bill" Merritt, who married Winnie D. Conley, daughter of Benjamin Amos Conley and Mary L. He married (2) STELLA (unknown last name) about 1928. She was born in 1891 in Kentucky, died in 1976, and is buried in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Scioto County, Ohio.

He was found to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, he weighed 155 pounds, and he had gray eyes, black hair, and a light complexion.

    Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Thomas Conley lived from 1885 to 1960, and was buried in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Scioto County, Ohio, and that Stella M. Conley lived from 1891 to 1976, and was buried in the same cemetery.

    According to Ohio death record transcripts, Thomas Conley was born about 1886, and died January 20, 1960 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, at the age of 74. He was married and living in Portsmouth at the time of his death.

    According to her death certificate, Lydia Puckett Conley died August 18, 1920 in Washington Township, Scioto County, Ohio, from the results of a difficult labor.
