CYNTHIA ELLEN CONLEY, daughter of JAMES A. CONLEY and LINNIE SUSAN B. MUSICK, was born December 6, 1872 in Floyd County, Kentucky, died March 16, 1955 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Dotson Cemetery in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky. She married (1) (unknown first name) HACKWORTH. She married (2) RICHARD H. DOTSON, son of EMANUEL DOTSON and MARY HIBBITS, January 16, 1895 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He was born May 6, 1866 in Wise County, Virginia, died August 30, 1960 in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Dotson Cemetery in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: From Jennifer Vaughan Darche: "My dad is Cynthia’s great grandson. He said she was married to a Hackworth before she married Richard H. Dotson. He doesn’t remember his great grandfather’s name, only that he died early on. They had a son named Martin who was born 7 March 1890. Martin’s last name was not changed to Dotson. His great grandma married Richard Dotson afterwards. Martin married a Malta Collins and they had my father’s mother Alva Cynthia Hackworth. Alva married Walter Nolan Vaughan and they had my father Walter Douglas Vaughan."

From the Knott County (Kentucky) Historical Society under marriages for January 16, 1895: "Miss Cynthia Hackworth, b. 1873 in Floyd County, and Mr. R. H. Dotson, b. 1867 in Wise County, Va., are scheduled to be wed in the home of Mr. James A. Conley of Floyd County. This is the second marriage for both parties. The groom resides at Bonanza in Floyd County."

The initial information that was received had twelve children listed as being the offspring of Cynthia Conley and Richard Dotson, and this info came with a tremendous amount of documentation. In the 1900 census, Cynthia claims that she's had 4 children, with 3 still living. The parentage of the other children in that census that were born before Cynthia and Richard married weren't able to be proven.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website shows that Cynthia Conley Dotson lived from December 6, 1872 to March 16, 1955, and was buried in Dotson Creek on Asa Creek in Leander, Kentucky, and that Richard H. Dotson lived from May 6, 1866 to August 30, 1960, and was buried in the same cemetery.
