Waugh of Crown City, and that he was born March 9, 1889 [sic]. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and light brown hair.

She was born November 5, 1909 in Virginia, died August 7, 1974 in Pound, Wise County, Virginia, and is buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, Wise County, Virginia. Nola Wampler married (2) DELBERT L. BOGGS.

According to his death certificate, Franklin Pierce Conley died in a coal mine in Letcher County, Kentucky, on November 27, 1950 from "Cardiac Anoxemia due to Coronary Occlusion." Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Magoffin County, his birth date as July 2, 1906, his marital status as married, his parents as George Conley and Rebecca Crase, the informant as Mrs. Nola Conley, and the burial place as Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, Virginia.

According to her death certificate, Nola Wampler Boggs died August 7, 1974 in Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital in Pound, Wise County, Virginia, from "Massive Pulmonary Embolism." GEORGE W. PIERCE was born about 1849 in North Carolina, and died June 26, 1879 in Sevier County, Arkansas. He married FLORA M. MCLANE, daughter of ALEXANDER MCLANE and LOUISA LONG. She was born in February of 1847 in Arkansas. Flora McLane Pierce married (2) (unknown first name) OWENS.

Notes: Some researchers have George W. Pierce as the son of William A. Pierce and Catherine Richardson of Tennessee. This is not the case, as is shown in the census reports. Their children were Susan (b. 1847, Tennessee), Mary C. (b. 1848, Tennessee), James (b. 1851, Tennessee), William (b. 1854, Tennessee), Martha E. (b. 1857, Tennessee), Daniel (b. 1859, Tennessee), Abraham L. (b. 1861, Tennessee), Winfield Scott (b. 1862, Tennessee), and Benjamin F. (b. 1865, Tennessee). There was a George W.       "One Johnson Co., boy has been killed in action, two are missing and three are wounded according to reports from the War Department. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest (Dick) Dills, former resident of Stambaugh, who now live at Covington, KY., have been notified that their son, Sgt. Ernest Dills Jr. was killed in action in Luxembourg on February 5, 1945. He was earlier reported missing on that date. Sergeant Dills is a graduate of Oil Springs High School. After completing a course at the Mayo Vocational School he entered the army in July 1942. He has three brother in service. Howard Dills, S 2/c of the Navy now in Virginia, Ray Dills with the Army in the Phillippines and Tom Dills of the Navy in the Pacific. These boys are grandson of Mrs. W. I. McCloud, city, and nephews of Mrs. Oscar Lovely, city. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ellis Roberts, city, and Mrs. Carl Saunders who is with her husband at an army camp in the country. Pfc. Everett Morris VanHoose son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil VanHoose, West Van Lear, has been missing since February 15 in Germany. The parents were notified February 28, Pvt. VanHoose entered the Army in 1942. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey B. Williams Sr., of Hager Hill have been notified that their son Pfc. Lindsey B. Williams Jr., has been missing in France since the seventh of February. He is a Johnson County boy but entered the army from Troy, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Preston of West Van Lear have received word from War Department that their son Pfc. Billy Preston was wounded on January 06, while serving in Belgium. This is the second time he has been wounded since D-Day, the first being in France only a few months ago. Pfc Preston has served in England, France, Luxembourg and Belgium. He is a brother of Mrs. Eugene Baldridge, Lexington, KY. Pfc Claude Blanton Jr. was seriously injured in Belgium on January 08, according to a telegram from the War Department sent January 29, to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Blanton of Win, KY. He has benn in service eighteen months, going overseas sometime in June. Pfc Blanton is now receiving treatment at a hospital in England."

She was born October 14, 1873 in Kansas, died May 5, 1936 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and is buried in Dewey Adams Cemetery in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky.

Notes: Lucinda Cooper reportedly was married first to a John W. Burgett, the son of Lambert Burgett and Mary Burford Hillman. Nothing could be found to subsantiate this.

When Floyd Coake's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Carroll County, Virginia, he stated that he was a laborer at a saw mill, that he was single, and that he was born June 3, 1895 in Carroll County, Virginia. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and light brown hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

When Floyd Lefayett Coake's World War II draft registration card was filled out on May 8, 1942 in Wythe County, Virginia, he stated that he was employed by The New Jersey Zinc Company in Austinville, Wythe County, Virginia, that he lived in Austinville, that his closest relative was Homer Coake of Austinville, and that he was born June 4, 1895. He was found to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, he weighed 150 pounds, and he had blue eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion.

She married WALLACE MILLARD "MILLARD" BLAIR, son of MARGARET HITCHCOCK and WALLACE B. BLAIR. He was born September 6, 1877 in Kentucky, died June 16, 1958 in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Patrick Cemetery in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky. A photo of her headstone shows that Dora Ellen May Blair lived from September 14, 1901 to July 5, 1994. She is buried in the same cemetery as her daughter and son-in-law.

According to his obituary, Millard Blair (age 80), son of Wallace and Margaret Hitchcock Blair, was a retired merchant and farmer. He was born September 6, 1878 in Johnson County, died June 26, 1958 at home in Leander, and was buried in Patrick Cemetery in Leander. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lou Ellen O'Bryan. He was survived by his 2nd wife, Dora Mary [sic] Blair; and 2 daughters, Mrs. Mervin L. Williams (of Oil Springs, Kentucky) and Mrs. Herbert Blanton. Also listed is Dora (wife, born in Kentucky, she's living in the same place that she was in 1935, 8th grade education, age 39).
