He married FLORA E. CROSE, daughter of LEWIS GORDON CROSE and SARAH DOROTHY PERRY, about 1923. She was born October 16, 1905 in Morgan County, Kentucky. died December 25, 1991 in Greenup County, Kentucky, and is buried in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Greenup County, Kentucky.

Notes: Sarah Dorothy Perry's name could have been Dorothy Sarah Perry. Her complete name was determined using the 1920 census report, and by finding the birth record transcripts of 2 of her children. Joyce Crase [Joyce Crose] was born April 9, 1913 in Morgan County to Sarah Perry, and Paul E. Crose was born October 7, 1916 in Morgan County to Sarah Perry. On page 19 of the 1930 census for District 88-13 (West Liberty) in Morgan County, Kentucky (dated April 5, 1930), Dorothy Perry is found married to a man by the name of Joe Fisher, and her son Paul's last name is spelled "Cross."

According to his death certificate, Garda Crose [Lewis Gordon Crose] died October 12, 1916 in Panther Branch, Morgan County, Kentucky, suddenly, and from unknown causes. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Morgan County, his birth date as October 12, 1880, his age as 36, his marital status is blank, his occupation as farmer, his parents as George Crose (b. Kentucky) and Ellen Law (b. Kentucky), the informant as Carter Stamper of Blaze, Kentucky, and the burial place as George Crose Graveyard. He was actually born in December of 1889 as can be seen on page 3 of the 1900 census for District 76 (Magisterial District No. 6) in Morgan County, Kentucky (dated June 2, 1900).

When Daniel Blanton's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that was a farmer working for Albert Blanton in Wheelersburg, Magoffin County, that his closest relative was Albert Blanton, and that he was born May 5, 1899. He was found to be short and slender, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Dan Blanton lived from 1900 to 1979 [the 1900 census shows it's 1899], and was buried in Section B in Flatwoods, Greenup County, Kentucky, and that Flora Blanton lived from 1905 to 1991, and was buried in the same section in the same cemetery.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Dan Blanton was born May 5, 1899, and died in July of 1979. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Kentucky, and his last place of residence was in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Dan Blanton died July 8, 1979 in Greenup County at the age of 79.

STEPHEN M. CAUDILL, son of PLEASANT CAUDILL and KATHERINE ELLEN WILEY, was born October 21, 1870 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, died September 10, 1957 in Flat Fork, Magoffin County, Kentucky and is buried in Caudill Cemetery in Flat Fork, Magoffin County, Kentucky. He married ROSA LEE TACKETT, daughter of DRUCILLA CRACE and JAMES WAYMEN TACKETT, about 1895. She was born in June of 1876 in Kentucky, and died in 1950.

Notes: A photo of their headstone shows that Stephen Caudill lived from 1871 to 1957, although it's hard to read, and that Rosa Lee Caudill lived from 1875 to 1950.

According to his death certificate, Steve Caudill died September 10, 1957 in Flat Fork, Magoffin County, Kentucky, from a cerebral hemorrhage. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Magoffin County, his birth date as October 21, 1870, his marital status as widowed, his father as Pleasant Caudill, his mother's maiden name as Rosa Lee Tackett [mistake - the informant was Thurman Caudill and he wrote his mother's name], the informant as Thurman Caudill, and the burial place as Caudill Cemetery in Flat Fork.

WILEY and NANCY EVELINE TACKETT, in 1868. She was born in September of 1850 in Kentucky, and died after 1930. Katherine Ellen Wiley married (2) COLUMBUS P. LEMASTER, son of JOSEPH ELI LEMASTER and LYDIA MARGARET TACKETT.

Notes: Columbus Lemaster was the brother of James Wayman Lemaster, Missouri Ellen Lemaster, Ambrose S. Lemaster, Turtle Dove Lemaster, Samuel Lemaster, and William O. Bradley Lemaster.

Daughters of Katherine Ellen Wiley and Columbus P. Lemaster were Eliza E. Lemaster and Nancy Jane Lemaster.

Notes: When David Slusher's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Greenup County, Kentucky, he stated that he was an automobile repairman in N & W Car Shop in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, that his closest relative was Mrs. Margret Slusher of Fullerton, Greenup County, and that he was born October 2, 1884. He had blue eyes and brown hair.

Notes: When David Slusher's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, he stated that he was working for N & W Railway in Portsmouth, that the person who would always know his address was Evertt Mead of Portsmouth, and that he was born November 2, 1882 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was found to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, he weighed 175 pounds, and he had blue eyes, gray hair, and a ruddy complexion.

Information found on findagrave.com shows that David and Margaret Slusher were both buried in Section 4 in Sardinia Cemetery in Sardinia, Brown County, Ohio. It also says that David lived from 1881 to 1960, and that Margaret lived from 1887 to 1952. No headstone photos are provided.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, David Slusher was born October 3, 1881 in Sayersville, Kentucky [sic]. His parents are listed as Abigia Slusher and Elizabeth Conley.

According to Ohio death record transcripts, David Slusher was born about 1882, and died August 14, 1960 at home in Hamilton County at the age of 78. He was widowed at the time of his death.

On page 17 of the 1910 census for District 76 (Magisterial District No. 8) in Greenup County, Kentucky (dated May 3, 1910), Dave Slusher is listed as the head of the household for house #149, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, 1st marriage, married for 8 years, and he's 23 years old.      "Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Barnetts Creek for Albert Picklesimer 62 year old farmer of that section, and his son Robert T. Picklesimer, 35, both victims of an automobile accident occurring Saturday afternoon at Staffordsville. Witnesses stated that the car in which the Picklesimers were riding left the road and literally flew through the air, striking a tree on the hillside and crashing some hundred feet below in Paint Creek just below the mouth of Big Mud Lick. The elder Picklesimer was killed instantly, his son dying Sunday at a local hospital to which he had been taken. Survivors of Albert Picklesimer are his wife, Mrs. Zelda Trimble Picklesimer, two daughters, Syble Rice, Collista and Avalee at home, brothers Sherman, W. Va.; John R., Sam and Albert, all of Ohio, and Sanford at Van Lear, and a sister, Mrs. Clarence Williams, of Ohio. Robert is survived by his wife Mes. Hester Blair Picklesimer and four children, Charles Willis, Coralee Fay, William Robert and Rogert Albert."

The services were held at her home, with the Revs. Ferman Blair, C.C. Hall, and Scott Castle officiating. Burial followed in the Family Cemetery at Barnetts Creek, with the Paintsville Funeral Home directing. Her husband, Albert Picklesimer, preceded her in death five years ago. She was born in Johnson County and had been a resident of Barnetts Creek all her life. She was the daughter of Nat and Nancy Jane Van Hoose Trimble and was a member of the United Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Elbert Rice, Barnetts Creek, and Mrs. Shadie Preston, Millstone, Ky., and three brothers: Cyrus, Boldman, Ky., Tom, Paintsville and Benton Trimble, Cincinnati, Ohio."

According to Ohio death record transcripts, Samuel Pickelsimer was born about 1887, and died July 11, 1960 in Southern Ohio Medical Center Mercy in Portsmouth, Scioto County, at the age of 73. He was married at the time of his death.

     "Mrs. Virgie Picklesimer, 70, of Beaver's Lane, Lucasville, R.I., died at 10:10 a.m., Tuesday April 25, 1961, in the Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio. She had been a patient there a week. Born January 17, 1891, in Johnson County, she was a daughter of Deeleenee and Cynthia Wheeler. She was married May 13, 1919 [1909], to Samuel Picklesimer. Surviving are six sons, James of Lucasville Rt. 1; Merida of Paintsville, Ky.; Manford of Mount Sterling, Ohio; Bradley of Lucasville; Oakley of St. George, Utah; Ora of Lucasville; two daughters, Mrs. Dela Deemer of McDermott, Rt. 1; Mrs. Martha Jane Underwood of Sciotoville; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Kiser of Muncie, Ind.; Mrs. Cora Prince of McDermott; three brothers, Oakley and Bradley both of Polar, Wis., Dewey of Chicago; twenty-seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Picklesimer was preceded in death by her husband Samuel, who died in 1960, and by two brothers. She was a member of the Low Gap, Ky., United Baptist Church for fifty years. Tera Picklesimer Williams was first married at age 20, according to the 1930 census, and she was 33 when the census was taken. Also listed are Ducie (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 22, age 28), Millard (son, born in Kentucky, age 4) and Melvin (son, born in Kentucky, age 2 years 1 month). They are living next to Lundy's parents.

On page 7 of the 1940 census for District 77-4B in Magoffin County, Kentucky (dated April 5, 1940), Lundy Caudill is listed as the head of the household for house #41, he's an engiineer in the oil fields, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same house that he was in 1935, he has a 5th grade education, and he's 42 years old. Also listed are Lucy (wife, born in Kentucky, no formal education, age 36), Millard (son, born in Kentucky, age 13), Melvin (son, born in Kentucky, age 12), Thelma (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 8), Willie H. (son, born in Kentucky, age 4), and Alma (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 2).

BERTHA SLUSHER, daughter of DAVID SLUSHER and MARGARET PHIPPS, was born about 1903 in Kentucky, and died January 15, 1919 in Fullerton, Greenup County, Kentucky. She married OSCAR W. ROE, son of GEORGE ROE and LOUISA FRALEY. He was born about 1900 in Kentucky.

Notes: According to his death certificate, there was an unnamed baby boy who was stillborn on January 14, 1915 in Fullerton, Greenup County, Kentucky, and the cause of death is listed as "Still Born due to premature birth." Also on this certificate, his parents are listed as Oscar Roe (b. Kentucky) and Bertha Slusher (b. Kentucky), and the informant as David Slusher of Fullerton.

According to Kentucky birth record transcripts, George Roe was born November 14, 1913 in Greenup County to Luiza Fraley, and Arthur Roe was born September 24, 1917 in Greenup County to Louisa Fraley.

According to her death certificate, Bertha Slusher Roe died January 15, 1919 in Fullerton, Greenup County, Kentucky, from eclampsia complicated by influenza. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her marital status as married, her parents as David Slusher (b. Kentucky) and Margurite Phipps (b. According to Ohio death record transcripts, there was an Oscar Roe who was born about 1900, and died May 14, 1972 in Central Ohio Psychiatric Hospital in Columbus, Franklin County, at the age of 72.
