She married ALBERT BLAIR, son of MATILDA KATHERINE BLAIR and JAMES H. BLAIR. He was born August 30, 1897 in Barnetts Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky, died January 18, 1982 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky. Albert Blair married (1) MINTIE HUGHES, daughter of JOHN A. HUGHES and SARAH E. LEMASTER, November 16, 1916 in Johnson County, Kentucky. She was born about 1902.

Mintie Hughes was the sister of Laura Belle Hughes, and of Grace Hughes, who married William H. Hitchcock, son of Daniel S. Hitchcock and Samantha Josephine Adams.

According to West Virginia death record transcripts, Sarah E. Hughes, daughter of Daniel P. Lemaster and Phoba Boys [Phoebe Bayes] died March 21, 1932 in Wayne County.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Albert Blair (age 19) married Mintie Hughes (age 14) on November 16, 1916 in Johnson County.

When Albert Blair's World War I draft registration card was filled out on August 24, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was working for Eli Ratliff of Barnetts Creek, Kentucky, that his closest relative was "Mrs. Mintie [hard to read] Blair Wife" of Barnetts Creek, and that he was born August 13, 1897 in Barnetts Creek. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website and a photo of their headstone shows that Rebecca Blair lived from January 30, 1904 to November 11, 1989, and was buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville, and that Albert Blair lived from August 30, 1897 to January 18, 1982, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to her obituary, Rebecca Davis Blair (age 85), daughter of Adron Davis and Cynthia Conley, was born January 30, 1904 in Johnson County, died November 11, 1989 in Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center, and was buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Blair, in 1982. She was survived by 1 brother, Bill Davis (of Hager Hill); and 2 sisters, Edna Paul (Miami, Florida) and Garnett Davis (Phoenix, Arizona). TELLIE JACKSON, daughter of JAMES FRANK JACKSON and ANNA CATHARINE "KATE" HOOD, was born in July of 1892 in Kentucky, and died July 25, 1964 in Jasper County, Indiana. She married WOODSON "WOOTS" SLUSHER, son of REBECCA BAILEY and GARDNER SLUSHER, about 1911. He was born June 16, 1891 in Orchard, Kentucky, and died in May of 1966 in Medaryville, Pulaski County, Indiana.

When Woots Slusher's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Letcher County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a coal miner working for The Consolidation Coal Company in Jenkins, Kentucky, that he had a wife and mother who were dependent on him, and that he was born June 16, 1891 in Orchard, Kentucky. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had gray eyes and dark brown hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

When Woots Slusher's World War II draft registration card was filled out in Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana, he stated that he was born June 16, 1892 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and that his closest relative was Tellie Slusher of Medaryville, Indiana. He was found to have gray eyes, gray hair, and a dark complexion. Still not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

According to Jasper County, Indiana death record transcripts, Tellie Slusher died July 25, 1964 at the age of 74. Her parents are listed as Frank Jackson and Kate Hood.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Woots Slusher was born June 16, 1885, and died in May of 1966. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Kentucky, and his last place of residence was in Medaryville, Pulaski County, Indiana.

MASON JACKSON, son of JAMES FRANK JACKSON and ANNA CATHARINE "KATE" HOOD, was born in November of 1894 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, died May 28, 1939 in Burning Fork, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and is buried in Ivyton, Magoffin County, Kentucky. He married ROSIE GIBSON about 1935.

When Mason Jackson's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 15, 1917 in Logan County, West Virginia, he stated that he was working for the Maher-Pursglove Mining Company in Chauncey, West Virginia, that he was single, and that he was born November 26, 1896 in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and stout build, and he had blue eyes and dark brown hair.

According to his death certificate, Mason Jackson was murdered near his home in Flat Rock on May 28, 1939, dying from gunshot wounds. Also on this certificate, his age is listed as 41 years 10 months, his marital status as married, his wife as Rosie Jackson, his parents as Frank Jackson (b. Kentucky) and Catherine Hood (b. Kentucky), the informant as Frank Jackson of Salyersville, Kentucky, and the burial place as Ivyton, Magoffin County, Kentucky.







FANNIE KESTNER, daughter of MARGARET E. "MAGGIE" CONLEY and DAVID LEONARD KESTNER, was born February 14, 1906 in Kentucky, died December 15, 1997 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, and is buried in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Mason County, Illinois. She married GUY HERBERT LOURASH, son of ALBERT H. LOURASH and LUCY S. MCCOY, about 1924. He was born October 2, 1903 in Illinois, died February 5, 1999, and is buried in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Mason County, Illinois.

Notes: A photo of their headstone found online shows that Fannie Kestner Lourash lived from February 14, 1906 to December 15, 1997, and was buried in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Mason County, Illinois, and that Guy Herbert Lourash lived from October 2, 1903 to February 5, 1999, and was buried in the same cemetery.

She married ISAAC J. "BUD" PICKLESIMER, son of PHOEBE ANN RICE and SAMUEL PICKLESIMER, April 25, 1884 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was born July 16, 1860 in Kentucky, died May 21, 1930 in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky. Isaac Picklesimer married (1) AMANDA JANE SPRADLIN, daughter of MICHAEL SPRADLIN and ELIZABETH SHAVER August 24, 1879 in Johnson County, Kentucky. She was born in July of 1853 in Kentucky, died May 9, 1915 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Barnetts Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky. Amanda Spradlin married (1) ABRAHAM P. According to her death certificate, Amanda Conley Picklesimer died February 7, 1930 in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, from asthma complicated by broncho pneumonia. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her age as 60 years 7 months 8 days, her marital status as married, her husband as I. J. Picklesimer, her parents as Zair Conley (b. Kentucky) and Mary An Mayhan (b. Kentucky), and the burial place as Staffordsville.

     "'Aged Man Victim of Acute Indigestion' J. (Bud) Picklesimer, age 70, died suddenly at his home at Staffordsville of acute indigestion. Mr. Picklesimer had been in his usual good health and died in one hour following a hearty meal. Mr. Picklesimer was one of the county’s best citizens and a member of the United Baptist Church. Besides his widow he is survived by the following children: Albert Picklesimer, of Win Ky.; Sherman Picklesimer and Manford Picklesimer, of Van Lear; Jim Picklesimer, Win; Farmer Picklesimer, Staffordsville; Elbert Picklesimer, Van Lear, and Mrs. Tera Williams of Morgan county. Funeral services were in charge of ministers of the United Baptist Church with burial in the family burying ground."

The accident occured near Pickerington when he lost control of the car and overturned three times. He died shortly afterwards of a broken neck. The son of Mrs. Lettie Picklesimer and the late Elzie Picklesimer of Oil Springs, he was a member of a prominent family of this county. He was a survivor of three years overseas duty during World War II, serving in Italy, Africa, and Iceland. He was born May 5, 1922, and had spent most of his life in the Oil Springs vicinity. On January 6, 1947 he was married to Irene Holbrook who survives him. Other survivors, besides his mother, are two sisters and one brother, Miss Nadene Picklesimer, Oil Springs, Mrs. Oneida McKenzie, Johnstown, Ky., and Glen Picklesimer, Washington Court House, Ohio. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the home of his mother at Oil Springs by Rev. Oscar McCarty and Rev. Lonza Reed.      "Smith Picklesimer, 40, who resided on Pickle Fork, Barnetts Creek, died last Saturday morning at about 2 o'clock, following an illness of about two weeks a victim of typhoid fever.
     "Mr. Picklesimer was one of the leading citizens of Johnson County and since boyhood had lived an upright, righteous life. He was a member of the United Baptist Church having affiliated himself with that organization at the age of 15 and for 25 years had lived a consistent Christian life, and his passing will be mourned by a large number of relatives and friends throughout the county.
     "At the last primary election he was a candidate for the Republican nomination for Jailer and became well known over the county and made a wonderful showing in the primary being a close second to the winning candidate.
     "Mr. Picklesimer was a member of a large family of girls and boys, being a son of Rev. John H. Picklesimer of Barnetts Creek.
     "He is survived by his father, a wife and six children. His children are as follows: Mrs. Roy Salyer, Martin, Victoria, LeRoy and Mary Maxine.

He married (1) ZENA L. THEOBALD, daughter of CHARLES H. THEOBALD and CLARA F. (unknown last name), about 1909 (divorced). She was born in February of 1886 in Michigan. He married (2) CATHERINE AGNES "AGNES" SHUTE, daughter of RICHARD SHUTE and HANNAH DALY, June 28, 1921 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. She was born May 23, 1885 in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio, and died in November of 1963 in Ohio.

According to his obituary, Newton Picklesimer, son of B. F. and Eliza Pelphrey Picklesimer, was a veteran of World War I and had been ill for some time. He died May 30, 1946 in the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. He was survived by his father; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters. She was born October 5, 1889 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died October 11, 1918 in Sitka, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in the Stambaugh Cemetery in Johnson County, Kentucky. According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Willie R. Rice (age 20) married Anna E. Akers (age 19) on February 15, 1896 in Johnson County.

When W. R. Rice's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer in Sitka, Johnson County, that his closest relative was Lizzie Rice of Sitka, and that he was born May 21, 1875. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and black hair.

According to his death certificate, W. R. Rice died June 17, 1952 in Sitka from an enlarged heart. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as May 21, 1875, his marital status as married, his occupation as farmer, his parents as Wall Rice and Sis Butler, and the informant as "son John Rice."

According to his obituary, Will R. Rice (age 77), son of Mr. and Mrs. Wall Rice, was a farmer, carpenter, and a minister of the Enterprise Baptist Church for 50 years. He was born May 21, 1875 in Johnson County, died June 17, 1952 in Sitka following an illness of one year, and was buried in Butler Cemetery in Little Mud Lick. He was survived by his wife, Edna Picklesimer Rice; 3 sons, J. B. Rice (of Sitka), Charles C. Rice (Urbana, Ohio), and John W. Rice (Paintsville); 3 daughters, Mrs. Edna Fraley (Ypsilanti, Michigan), Mrs. Mildred Fraley (Thealka, Kentucky), and Mrs. Gene Preston (Meally, Kentucky); and one sister, Mrs. Ketty Estep (Georges Creek). On page 20 of the 1930 census for District 58-3 (Magisterial District No. 1) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated April 2, 1930), W. R. Rice is listed as the head of the household for house #29, he's a carpenter, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at age 21, and he's 54 years old. Also listed are Edna (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 28, age 39), Robert B. (son, born in Kentucky, age 9), Charles C. (son, born in Kentucky, age 7), John W. (son, born in Kentucky, age 4), and Abbie J. (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 2). They are living next to William's widowed mother.

On page 22 of the 1940 census for District 58-14 in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated May 7 & 8, 1940), Willie R. Rice is listed as the head of the household for house #177, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same place that he was in 1935, he has a 5th grade education, and he's 65 years old. Also listed are Edna (wife, born in Kentucky, 5th grade education, age 49), Charles (son, born in Kentucky, age 17), John (son, born in Kentucky, age 14), and Abie Jean (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 12).
