She married HARLAN MONROE CONLEY, son of GEORGE W. CONLEY and PRUDENCE NAPIER, July 17, 1896. He was born October 30, 1875 in Bonanza, Floyd County, Kentucky, died July 8, 1948 in Wyandotte County, Ohio, and is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey, Wyandotte County, Ohio.

When Harlan Monroe Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Leander, Johnson County, that his closest relative was Mrs. Samantha Conley of Leander, and that he was born October 30, 1875. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had black eyes and black hair.

Information found on findagrave.com shows that Samantha Ann May Conley lived from June 13, 1880 to February 19, 1957, and was buried in Plot Q in Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey, Wyandot County, Ohio, and that Harlen [sic] Monroe Conley lived from October 30, 1875 to July 8, 1948, and was buried in Plot Q in the same cemetery.

According to her obituary, Samantha May Conley (age 76), daughter of Thomas B. and Margaret Hall May and a native of Johnson County, was born June 13, 1880, died February 19, 1957 at home in Carey, Ohio, where she had moved 20 years prior, and was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey. She married Harlan Conley on July 17, 1896, who preceded her in death on July 8, 1948. She was also preceded in death by 4 sons, Hubert Marvin Conley, Elbert Kenneth Conley, Dennie Conley, and Morton Grant Conley. She was survived by 10 children, Mrs. James Caudill (of Sycamore, Ohio), Mrs. Clyde May (Azusa, California), Bert Conley (Vanlue, Ohio), Henry Conley (Pierceton, Indiana), George Conley (Warsaw, Indiana), Mrs. Ernest Litton (Upper Sandusky, Ohio), Mrs. Sherman Conley (Carey, Ohio), Mrs. Ben Rice (Carey), Beulah Salyer (Carey), and Gent Conley (Carey); 1 brother, Rubin May [Reuben] (Insko, Kentucky); 1 half-brother, Henry May (Morehead, Kentucky); 1 half sister, Mrs. Laney Messer (Morehead, Kentucky); 74 grandchildren; and 66 great-grandchildren. Elmer Fitchpatrick, 20, son of William Fitchpatrick of the Green Rock Fork of jenny's Creek is being held in the Johnson County jail charged with the shooting. His brother James Fitchpatrick, who was also arrested in connection with the incident was released on bond. Rev. Collins was born, December 21, 1901 at Riceville, the son of W. L. and Sarah Baldridge Collins. He was a farmer and merchant and minister of the Holiness Church. Surviving are his wife, Hattie Bayes Collins, two sons and one daughter, Chalmer and Powell both of Riceville and Betty Louise, also of Riceville. The following brother and sisters also survive: Mrs. Martin Hackworth, Plymouth, Oh., Mrs. Warren Helton, Oil Springs, Mrs. Sam Bayes, Riceville and Mrs. Ben Ward, Meally. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church at Riceville by Rev. Scott Castle. Notes: According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 357), Andrew Jackson Conley married Nancy Ann Baldridge, daughter of Andrew Baldridge and Martha Dawson, on July 30, 1861. She was born about 1840.

Nancy Ann Baldridge was the sister of William Marion Baldridge, Araminta Baldridge, Benjamin F. Baldridge, and Zachariah Baldridge.

It has been reported that this family had another child, Sherman Hargus Conley, but this couldn't be proven. According to Conley family researcher Michael D. Nestor, this child was actually James Hargus Conley, son of Francis Marion Conley, and Adaline Sturgill.

Notes: According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 490), Kelly Collins was born in 1887, married Josie Adams, and died in 1942. Josie Adams was born in 1890.

According to his death certificate, F. P. Adams died November 10, 1920 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, from cancer of the stomach. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Magoffin County, his age as 68, his marital status as married, his parents as Weley Adams [Wiley Adams] (b. Kentucky) and Malesa Bailey [Malissa Bailey], and the burial place as W. S. Adams Cemetery.

According to his obituary, Harry Adams (age 94), son of Frank and Rosa Hall Adams, was a former sheriff of Johnson County, and had been the Chief of Police for the Paintsville Police Department. He was born March 14, 1873 in Oil Springs, Kentucky, died January 13, 1968 in a local nursing home, and was buried in the family cemetery in Falcon, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida M. Collins Adams, in 1944. He was survived by 1 son, Lawrence Adams (of Falcon); 1 sister, Mrs. Josephine Collins (Allegeny, Michigan); 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. According to his death certificate, Kelly B. Collins died December 8, 1942 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, from cancer of the parotid gland. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his birth date as December 17, 1886, his marital status as married, his occupation as retired merchant, his wife as Josephine Adams Collins (age 52), his parents as William Henry Collins (b. Kentucky) and Lucinda Conley (b. Kentucky), the informant as Mrs. Glen Smith of Paintsville, and the burial place as Falcon.

According to his obituary, Kelly B. Collins (age 55) died December 8, 1942 at home in Stafford Addition [Paintsville] after a battle of several months with cancer, and was buried in the family cemetery in Falcon. According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Kelly B. Collins died December 8, 1942 in Johnson County at the age of 55. He was living in Johnson County at the time of his death.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of her headstone shows that Josephine Collins lived from 1890 to 1978, and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan, Allegan County, Michigan. Her daughter, Verna, is buried in the same cemetery.

MANERVA W. SPRADLIN, daughter of JOSIAH SPRADLIN and JANE M. MAY, was born about 1835 in Kentucky, died June 26, 1885, and is buried in Rice Cemetery in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky. She married ASA J. BLAIR, son of GEORGE BLAIR and MARY FAIRCHILD, February 13, 1853 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was born about 1837 in Kentucky, died January 7, 1882 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Rice Cemetery in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: Information on this family can be found on page 493 of "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society. In that book it says that Minerva W. Spradlin, daughter of Josiah and Jane M. May Spradlin, was born in 1835 and married Asa J. Blair on February 13, 1853. Their children were Alamander Blair (married Telia) and Ellen Blair.

Information on this family can also be found on page 139 of the book "The Founding of Harman's Station" by William Elsey Connelley. In that book it says: "Asa. Married Mahala, daughter of Josiah Spradlin, and a granddaughter of James Spradlin, the pioneer. Two children, Alamander and Ellen."

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website shows that Manerva Blair lived from 1835 to June 26, 1885, and was buried in Rice Cemetery in Asa Creek, Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky, and that Asa J. Blair died January 7, 1882, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to Kentucky marriage records, Manerva W. Spradlin (single, b. Floyd County, resident of Johnson County, age 18) married Asa J. Blair (single, b. Floyd County, resident of Johnson County, age 19) on February 13, 1853 in Johnson County.

On page 15 of the 1860 census for Johnson County, Kentucky (dated June 7, 1860), Acy J. Blair is listed as the head of the household for house #96, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, and he's 27 years old. Also listed are Manerva (wife, born in Kentucky, age 25), Alexander [sic] (born in Kentucky, age 1), James H. Spradlin (farmer, born in Kentucky, age 20), and Daniel M. Spradlin (farmer, born in Kentucky, age 18). James and Daniel are Minerva's brothers.

On page 9 of the 1870 census for Paintsville in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated June 18, 1870), Asa J. Blair is listed as the head of the household for house #60, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, and he's 36 years old. Also listed are Manerva (born in Kentucky, age 35), Alamander (born in Kentucky, age 11), Ellen (born in Kentucky, age 3), and George Blair (at home, born in Virginia, age 82).

On page 26 of the 1880 census for District 43 (Paintsville) in Johnson County, Kentucky, Asa J. Blair is listed as the head of the household for house #340, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, parents born in North Carolina, and he's 43 years old. Also listed are Minerva W. (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 41), and Ellen (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 13).

Notes: According to Kentucky birth records, Alamander Blair was born June 18, 1858 in Johnson County to Asa J. Blair and Manervia Spradlin.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Alamander Blair (age 20) married Sarah Hitchcock on May 24, 1879 in Johnson County.

On page 27 of the 1880 census for District 43 (Paintsville) in Johnson County, Kentucky, Samuel Blair is listed as the head of the household for house #343, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, and he's 35 years old.
