REBECCA RICE, daughter of CATHERINE B. CONLEY and ANDREW JACKSON RICE, was born about 1884 in Kentucky, and died before 1976. She married NEWTON PATRICK RICE, son of HENRY CLAY RICE and AMANDA BAYES, about 1903. He was born January 24, 1881 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died October 27, 1976 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio.

Newton Patrick Rice was the half-brother of Yankee B. Rice.

Rebecca Rice was reportedly born February 3, 1884 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and died in Portsmouth, Ohio.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Henry C. Rice married Amanda Bayes on December 8, 1876 in Magoffin County at the home of Henry C. Rice. The witnesses were Douglas Bailey and Elizabeth Hunary, and the minister was Wallis Bailey.

According to his obituary, James C. Rice (age 90), son of the late Clay and Manda Bayes Rice, was a farmer in Hager Hill, Kentucky. He was born October 5, 1878 in Magoffin County, died July 5, 1969 in St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, and was buried in the family cemetery in Hager Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sally Burke, in 1941. He was survived by 1 son, Willie Rice (of Dayton, Ohio); 2 daughters, Mrs. Eskel Lewis (Grove City, Ohio) and Mrs. Wayne Spradlin (Hager Hill); 1 step-daughter, Golda Crace (Jackson, Ohio); and 1 brother, Newt Rice (Portsmouth, Ohio). When Newton Patrick Rice's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, he stated that he was a grocer in Scioto County, that the person who would always know his address was Rebecca Rice of Portsmouth, and that he was born January 24, 1881 in "McGoffin," Kentucky. He was found to be 5 feet 6 and 1/2 inches tall, he weighed 135 pounds, and he had black eyes, black hair, and a ruddy complexion.

She married JAMES ARTHUR "ARTHUR" TRIMBLE, son of ULYSSES GRANT "GRANT" TRIMBLE and PATIENCE WILLIAMS, about 1918. He was born July 27, 1896 in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, died March 26, 1969 in Cabell County, West Virginia, and is buried in Rose Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.

James Arthur Trimble was the brother of Earl Trimble, Virgie Trimble, Ruby Trimble, and of Stella Trimble, who's son, Robert, married Betty Jane Reynolds, daughter of Eugene Reynolds and Rachel M. Rowland.

When Arthur Trimble's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1918 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was self-employed in Ivyton, Kentucky, that his closest relative was "Grant Trimble Father" of Ivyton, that he was born July 27, 1896 in Staffordsville, Kentucky, and that his father was born in Staffordsville. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that James Arthur Trimble lived from July 27, 1896 to March 26, 1969, and was buried in Rose Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and that Pearl H. Trimble lived from January 31, 1887 to October 15, 1958, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to Ohio death record transcripts, Pearl H. Trimble was born about 1887, and died October 15, 1958 in OSU Medical Center in Columbus, Franklin County, at the age of 71. She was married at the time of her death.

He married MARY WORKMAN about 1908. She was born July 1, 1888 in Floyd County, Kentucky, and died April 20, 1980 in Blue River, Floyd County, Kentucky.

Notes: When Jim Hackworth's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Floyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer with a wife and 3 children, and that he was born August 6, 1888 in Bonanaza, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had gray eyes, black hair, and he had "lost one eye."

According to his death certificate, James Hackworth died December 8, 1938 in Bonanza, Floyd County, Kentucky, from abdominal dropsy and cancer of the liver. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Floyd County, his birth date as June 6, 1886, his marital status as married, his wife as Mary Workman Hackworth, his occupation as farmer, his parents as Henry Hackworth (b. Reva Claire Patrick was the sister of Anna Louise Patrick, who married Gus Connelley, son of Walter Constantine Conley and Grace Bayes.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, J. T. Patrick married Nora Fairchild on October 16, 1904 in Magoffin County. The witnesses were A. C. Conley, and the minister was L. F. Caudill.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Carroll W. Caudill lived from 1894 to 1965, and was buried in Tower A in Rose Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and that Reva P. Caudill lived from 1906 to 1987, and was buried in Tower A in the same cemetery.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Carroll Caudill was born July 29, 1894, and died in December of 1965. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Kentucky, and his last place of residence was in Russell, Greenup County, Kentucky.

Amanda Daniel married (1) ELIPHUS PRESTON WILLIAMS, son of JOSEPH WILLIAMS and ELIZABETH LEMASTER, July 6, 1877 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was born about 1842 in Kentucky. She married (3) LEANDER F. SMITH about 1909. He was born about 1859 in Kentucky.

When William Lewis Stnaley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer and a miner working for Beaver Pond Coal Company, that his closest relative was Sarah Jane Stanley of Myrtle, Floyd County, and that he was born April 17, 1878. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and dark brown hair.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that William Lewis Stanley lived from 1878 [mistake] to 1951, and was buried in Rude Cemetery in Flatwoods, Greenup County, Kentucky, and that Sarah Stanley lived from 1873 to 1962, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to his death certificate, William Lewis Stanley died January 31, 1951 at home in Naples, Greenup County, Kentucky, from a coronary occlusion. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Floyd County, Kentucky, his birth date as April 17, 1878, his marital status as married, his occupation as farmer, his parents as Harry Stanley and Sentha May, the informant as "Mrs. Sarah Click Stanley (Wife)," and the burial place as McCalvin Cemetery in Naples.

She was born June 12, 1880 in Budingen, Germany, died October 13, 1965 in Peru, Miami County, Indiana, and is buried in Gilead Cemetery in Gilead, Miami County, Indiana.

Notes: There is a record of Louise's trip from Hamburg, Germany, to New York aboard the Westphalia in 1884. The ship departed April 9, 1884, and her family is listed as Philipp Gutmann (age 40), Katchen Gutmann (age 38), Georg Gutmann (age 18), Heinrich Gutman (age 16), Ph Gutmann [sic] (age 9), Marie Gutmann (age 8), Carl Gutmann (age 7), Louise Gutmann (age 3), and Kati Gutmann (age 9 months).

There is also a record of Louise Katherine Gutmann's naturalization that shows that she was a trained nurse when she became a U.S. citizen on July 10, 1916 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. It says that she was born June 12, 1880 in Budingen, Germany, she was 5 feet 5 1/2 inches tall and weighed 120 pounds, she had brown hair, gray eyes, and a fair complexion. She emigrated to the U.S. from Bremen, Germany, on the vessel "Westphalen," was unmarried, and arrived in New York on April 15, 1883.

According to her death certificate, Katherine L. Wenzell Gutmann died February 25, 1927 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, from paralysis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Germany, her birth date as November 14, 1846, her marital status as widowed, her husband as Phillip Gutmann, her father asa George Wenzell (b. Germany), her mother's maiden name as unknown (b. Germany), the informant as Mrs. Mary Wahler, and the burial place as Cave Hill Cemetery [Cavehill Cemetery].

When Malcom A. Stanley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 2, 1917 in Bonanza, Floyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he had been a miner working for Island Creek Coal Company in Mico, West Virginia, before he lost sight in both eyes, that he was single, and that he was born October 21, 1887 in Bonanza, Kentucky. He was found to be short and stout, and he had blue eyes and dark-colored hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

According to his death certificate, Malcolm Stanley died March 16, 1940 in Lancer, Floyd County, Kentucky, from a pncerebral hemorrhage. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Bonanza, Kentucky, his birth date as October 21, 1887, his marital status as married, his wife as Louise Stanley (age 58), his occupation as broom maker, his parents as Harrison Stanley (b. Bonanza) and Cynthia May (b. Bonanza), the informant as W. M. Stanley of Bonanza, and the burial place as Bonanza.

According to her obituary found on findagrave.com, Louise K. Gutmann Stanley, daughter of Carl and Katherine Gutmann, was a retired registered nurse, and had moved from Louisville, Kentucky, to Gilead, Indiana, 20 years prior to her death. She was born June 12, 1880 in Germany, died October 13, 1965 in Dukes Hospital in Peru, Indiana, and was buried in Gilead Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Stanley, whom she married in 1918 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He died in 1940. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers; and 2 sisters. She was survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Jake (Anna Lou) Damron (of Macy, Indiana) and Mrs. Jack (Mary) Bailey (Virginia Beach); 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
