In that book it says that Nora Lee Price was born in 1881, married Millard B. Rice in 1898, and that their children were Bessie Rice (b. 1899), Loran Rice (b. 1901), Virgil Rice (b. 1903), George Rice (b. 1905), Chester Rice (b. 1907), Lucille Rice (b. 1909), and Hazel Lee Rice (b. 1911). Millard Rice then married Ida Hicks and they lived in Mousie, Kentucky.
Nora Price was the sister of Sarah F. Price, Emeline Price, and Winfield Scott Price. Her name is found as Nora Harrell in Winfield's obituary when he died in 1945, and she was living in Washington, D.C.
Ida Hick's mother's maiden name was determined by finding her death certificate. On that certificate, Elizabeth Carpenter Hicks' parents are listed as Billie Carpenter and Katie Tiry. She was born June 13, 1855 in Perry County, and died April 6, 1939 in Mousie, Knott County.
According to Kentucky birth record transcripts, Millard B. Rice was born October 18, 1878 in Johnson County to Andrew J. Rice (b. Johnson County) and Catherine Conley (b. Johnson County).
According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Millard B. Rice (age 19) married Nora L. Price (age 16) on February 24, 1898 in Johnson County.
When Millard B. Rice's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Louisa, Lawrence County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a logger working in Glenhayes, Wayne County, West Virginia, that his closest relative was Ida Rice of Lackey, Floyd County, Kentucky, and that he was born October 18, 1879. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and brown hair.
Information found on findagrave.com shows that Millard B. Rice was buried in Hicks Cemetery in Mousie, Knott County, Kentucky, and that Ida Rice lived from September 17, 1898 to February 19, 1995, and was buried in the same cemetery. There is a photo of Ida's headstone, but there isn't one of Millard's.
According to his obituary, Millard B. Rice, son of Andrew J. and Katherine Conley Rice and a native of Denver [Johnson County], was born October 18, 1876 in Johnson County, left Johnson County for Beaver Creek [Floyd County] 40 years prior to his death, and died September 30, 1954 in Stumbo Memorial Hospital in Lackey. He first married Nora Lee Price and they had 9 children, 7 who were still living at the time of his death. Loran Rice (Chicago, Illinois), Virgil Rice (Wayland, Kentucky), George B. Rice (Huntington, West Virginia), Chester Rice (Huntington, West Virginia), Mrs. Kern Carpenter (Noctor, Kentucky), Mrs. Clay Allen (Blue Diamond, Kentucky), and Mrs. Wilbur Davidson (Lothair, Kentucky). He then married Ida Hicks in 1916 and they had 6 children, 5 who were still living at the time of his death. Carl Rice (Monroe, Michigan), Charles Rice (Monroe, Michigan), Winfred Rice (Wayland), Orville Rice (Garrett, Kentucky), and Mrs. Kellie Fields (Hindman, Kentucky). He was survived by his wife; 2 brothers, Fred Rice (Ashland) and Burnis Rice (Estill); and 1 sister, Mrs. Arthur Trimble (Ashland).
