Notes: In an article written by Todd Preston [the link was good in 2011], President of the The Magoffin County Historical Society, on August 12, 2010, in The Salyersville Independent newspaper, Todd wrote: "Clint McFarlan was born in 1868 and died in the 1940s. He married 7 Feb 1899 to Eliza Workman who was born in 1859 and died in 1911. She was a daughter of Henry Workman and Narcissus Lemaster. Narcissus was a daughter of Ambrose Lemaster and his first wife Nancy McGuire. Ambrose married secondly to "Granny" Fanny Shaver. You may remember that a monument was set recently for her and a twin marker is in the planning stage for Ambrose Lemaster and his first wife and children. Ambrose is buried in the Lemaster Cemetery behind the Falcon School and there is no access road except up the Tom Prater hollow."

He was born November 15, 1855 in Jennies Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky, died April 4, 1936 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, and is buried on the Rice farm on the Middle Fork of Jennies Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Rice married a Fairchilds, daughter of Elias Fairchilds of Asa's Creek. Their children were 1. Martin Rice, 2. ? - married a McFaddin, 3. ? - married a Ratliff, 4. ?, 5. ? - married a Ratliff. It also says that they lived on Middle Fork of Jennies Creek.

Martin N. Rice was the brother of Patrick Green Rice, Armstrong Rice, and Julia Frances Rice.

Barnes McFadden married (2) EMMALINE "EMMA" LYONS. She was born about 1889 in Kentucky. Emma Lyons married (1) WILLIAM DAVID ARTHINGTON NELSON.

He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and black hair.

According to her death certificate, Lulia Mcfaddin died June 21, 1935 in Paintsville from myocarditis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her birth date as August 24, 1884, her marital status as married, her husband as Barnes McFaddin, her parents as M. N. Rice (b. Kentucky) and Frances Fairchild (b. Kentucky), the informant as Barnes McFaddin of Paintsville, and the burial place as the family cemetery.

According to her obituary, Lulie Rice McFadden (age 51), was the mother of 15 children, 9 of whom preceded her in death. She had been suffering from heart trouble for some time and her death was not unexpected. She died June 20, 1935 at home in Southside, and was buried in the family cemetery in Jennies Creek. He represented the Consolidated Grocery Company of Ashland for 15 years, and the George E. Pellens Coffee Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, until a few months prior to his death. He was born August 15, 1865 in Magoffin County, died December 9, 1953 at home in Paintsville, and was buried in Cap Cemetery in Lakeville, Kentucky. He was married 66 years prior to Ardelia Frances McFarland, who preceded him in death August 12, 1953. He was survived by 2 sons, Tom Hazelett and Warrick Hazelett (both of Paintsville); 2 daughters, Mrs. Heber Conley and Miss Belle Hazelett (both of Paintsville); 1 brother, Noah Hazelett (Mt. Grant Blevins was the brother of Smith Blevins.

Susan Frances Tackett was the sister of John Milton Tackett, Martha E. J. Tackett, Moses Tackett, Delila Ann Tackett, Spicy Tackett, Samuel Tackett, and Lewis Tackett, who's sons Floyd and Carl both married daughters of Sarah Ella "Ella" Rice and William Benjamin Caudill.

According to Kentucky birth records, Susan Frances Tackett was born March 10, 1856 in Johnson County to Hiram C. Tackett and Lucinda Shaver.

According to her death certificate, Susan F. Tackett Blevins died June 10, 1944 in Johnson County, Kentucky, from broncho pneumonia, valvular heart disease, and old age. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her birth date as March 10, 1856, her marital status as widowed, her husband as William Riley Blevins, her parents as Hiram Tackett (b. Virginia) and Lucy Shavers (b. Virginia), the informant as Smith Blevins of Staffordsville, Kentucky, and the burial place as the family cemetery.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Cassie Salyer (age 21) married Grant Blevins (age 22) on December 25, 1916 in Johnson County.

According to Kentucky birth record transcripts, there was a William F. Blevins who was born March 3, 1918 in Johnson County to a Cassie Salyers. This was probably the child of Cassie and Grant, but he isn't with the family in the census reports, so could have died young.

When Grant Blevins' World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Staffordsville, Johnson County, that he was married, and that he was born December 1, 1895 in Staffordsville. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had light blue eyes and light-colored hair.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Cassie Blevins was born August 30, 1895, and died January 11, 1997. She received her Social Security card in 1963 in Kentucky, and her last place of residence was in Henderson, Henderson County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Cassie Blevins died January 11, 1997 in Corydon, Henderson County, at the age of 101.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Grant Blevins died June 3, 1961 in Union County at the age of 64.

On page 33 of the 1900 census for District 38 (Paintsville) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated June 14, 1900), Ryland Blevins is listed as the head of the household for house #268, he's a farmer, born in June of 1860 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 20 years, and he's 39 years old. Also listed are Susan (wife, born in March of 1856 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 20 years, she's given birth to 11 children and 10 are still living, age 43), Charley [hard to read] (son, born in July of 1882 in Kentucky, age 17), Laura [hard to read] (daughter, born in March of 1883 in Kentucky, age 17), Fred (son, born in October of 1885 [hard to read] in Kentucky, age 14), Flora (daughter, born in May of 1886 in Kentucky, age 14), Cora (daughter, born in May of 1888 in Kentucky, age 12), Rosa (daughter, born in August of 1890 in Kentucky, age 9), Millie [hard to read] (daughter, born in April of 1891 in Kentucky, age 9), Frank (son, born in January of 1894 in Kentucky, age 6), Grant (son, born in December of 1896 in Kentucky, age 3), and Smith (son, born in October of 1897 in Kentucky, age 2).

Also listed are Susan (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Virginia, 1st marriage, age 51), Frank (son, born in Kentucky, age 16), Grant (son, born in Kentucky, age 14), and Smith (son, born in Kentucky, age 12).

On page 11 of the 1920 census for District 30 (Paintsville) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated January 5 & 6, 1920), Grant Blevins is listed as the head of the household for house #125, he's a truck driver, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, and he's 24 years old. Also listed is Cassie (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 24).

On page 29 of the 1930 census for District 77-5 (Magisterial District No. 2) in Magoffin County, Kentucky (dated April 17, 1930), Grant Blevins is listed as the head of the household for house #290, he's a pumper in the oil fields, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at age 21, and he's 34 years old. Also listed are Cassie (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 21, age 35), Freddie (son, born in Kentucky, age 11), Franklin (son, born in Kentucky, age 9), Irene (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 5), and Arnold (son, born in Kentucky, age 4 months).

On page 13 of the 1940 census for District 77-5 in Magoffin County, Kentucky (dated April 11, 1940), Grant Blevins is listed as the head of the household for house #103, he's a lease foreman in the oil fields, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same house that he was in 1935, he has an 8th grade education, and he's 45 years old. Also listed are Cassie (wife, born in Kentucky, 8th grade education, age 44), Arnold (son, born in Kentucky, age 10), and Grant Junior (son, born in Kentucky, age 7).

      Notes: According to his obituary found on findagrave.com, Grant "Junior" Blevins (age 81), son of the late Grant Blevins Sr. and Cassie Sawyer Blevins [sic], was retired from B.T.A., formerly Ashland Oil Company, in Uniontown, Kentucky. He was born August 22, 1932 in Paintsville, Kentucky, died March 14, 2015 at home in Corydon, and was buried in Corydon Cemetery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda R. Bebout Blevins; 1 son, James (Karen) Blevins (of Henderson, Kentucky); 3 daughters, Mary D. Decker (Henderson), Annette (Mark) West (Corydon), and Cassie (Gary) Westerman (Corydon); 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
