Notes: When Emerson Picklesimer's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a laborer in Portsmouth, Ohio, that he was single, and that he was born January 16, 1892 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky. He was found to be tall and slender, and he had blue eyes and light brown hair. On September 26, 1958, Mrs. Lillie May Picklesimer filled out an application to try and get a headstone for Emerson, who was a veteran. On this application it says that he was born January 16, 1892, died June 5, 1958, and was buried in Ashland Cemetery. He enlisted on December 19, 1917, and was discharged as a corporal on May 28, 1919. A photo of their headstone in Ashland Cemetery shows that Emerson Picklesimer lived from 1892 to 1958, and Lillie F. Picklesimer from 1897 to 1960. According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Lillie M. Picklesimer died December 21, 1960 in Boyd County at the age of 63. She was living in Boyd County at the time of her death. According to his obituary, Emerson Picklesimer (age 66), son of John Henry and Minerva Watkins Picklesimer, was a native of Johnson County, Kentucky. He was born January 16, 1892, and died June 5, 1958 at home in Port Orange, Florida, after an illness of several months. According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Malva Lou Johnson (b. Scioto County, Ohio, age 21)) married Martin Hay on July 4, 1908 in Johnson County. Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website shows that Mart Hay "son-in-law/of Levi Johnson" died November 16, 1909 at the age of 23, and was buried in Levi Johnson Cemetery in Red Bush, Johnson County, Kentucky, that John Lowell Barber "son-in-law/of Levi Johnson" lived from March 2, 1881 to April 26, 1928, was buried in the same cemetery, that Virginia Kathelene Barber "granddaughter of Levi Johnson" lived from November 23, 1925 to December 6, 1925, was buried in the same cemetery, and that Gluckus [sic] Hay lived from 1910 to 1941, and was buried in the same cemetery. There are photos of all of the headstones except Glaucus'. It says that he is buried in an unmarked grave. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had brown eyes and dark brown hair. According to her death certificate, Altona Watkins O'Bryan died August 17, 1916 in Holly Branch from pulmonary tuberculosis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Johnson County, her birth date as September 13, 1893, her marital status as married, her parents as Jno. W. Watkins (b. Johnson County) and Etta Rice (b. Johnson County), the informant as Millard O'Bryan of Asa, Kentucky, and the burial place as Twin Branch, Asa, Kentucky. In that book (Volume 2), it says that Laura B. Jackson, daughter of Josephine Litteral and Gabriel Jackson, was born in 1887, died in 1973, and married Clinton Borders. Their children were Haskell Borders (b. 1913, d. 1953), Virgil Borders (b. 1914, d. 1937), Ellen Borders (b. 1916, m. 1. Fred Hammonds, m. 2. John McCarty), Earlie Borders (b. 1919, d. World War II), Fred Borders (b. 1925), and Willie Borders (b. 1928, m. Virginia Tackett, 1948). Clinton Borders had a child, Bessie Borders with Nancy Jane Adams. This is proven in Bessie's obituary. Whether they were married or not hasn't been confirmed. According to his Kentucky birth record, Zepaniah [sic] Border was born November 1, 1878 in Johnson County to David Borders (b.
