WARREN PENIX, son of MONROE PENIX and SARAH ELLEN CONLEY, was born January 20, 1901 in Kentucky, and died August 25, 1969 in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan. He married NORA P. COOPER, daughter of WILLIAM H. COOPER and MARY ELIZABETH GULLETT. She was born April 16, 1903 in Kentucky, and died June 5, 1990 in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan.
Notes: Information on this family can be found on pages 94, 143, & 171 of "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society.
Nora Cooper was the sister of Trinnie Ethel Cooper.
It's possible that Warren Penix first married Nora Horn, daughter of Thomas Horn and Martha Bailey. There is a Warren Penix of the same age found married to her in her parents home in 1920. This Warren is in house #161 in Lakeville and in house #164 is Warren's cousin, Tilden. According to her death certificate, Nora Horn Penix was born November 5, 1904 in Kentucky, and died March 9, 1921 in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky from general peritonitis. The oldest child of Warren Penix and Nora Cooper is Robert, who was born May 14, 1921. On his Kentucky birth record, Nora Cooper is listed as his mother, and that's just over 2 months after Nora Horn Penix died, so it seems unlikely that the Warren being researched here is the one that married Nora Horn. The information for Nora Horn will be posted here for future reference.
According to Social Security death record transcripts, Warren Penix was born January 20, 1900, and died in August of 1969. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Ohio, and his last place of residence was in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan. He isn't in the 1900 census, which was taken in June, and he was 9 years old in April of 1910, so his birth year must have been 1901.
According to Social Security death record transcripts, Nora Penix was born April 16, 1903, and died June 5, 1990. She received her Social Security card in 1968 in Kentucky.
According to Michigan death record transcripts, Nora O. Penix was born April 16, 1903, and died June 5, 1990 in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan.
